Heya all,

I tried turning the car on after about two weeks of sitting (couldn't get time to go to the car) and the instrument panel, car alarm and everything works however there is no ignition and what sounds like a machine gun rattling coming from the engine bay?

Being the brilliant mechanic that I am, i'm stumped as to what it could be?  The battery seems charged otherwise my alarm and insturment panel would not work (previous experience).

Any ideas what it could be?

OH also, for anyone who works or has ties with Toyota parts, what would I be looking at for replacing a stock clutch for a 2002 Corolla Levin?

Thanks heaps guys

I would say it's still a flat battery. It takes a lot more power to start than light up a few bulbs.
Even if the alt was dead you could still start it if the battery was in good condition

I would be 100% sure it's your battery, takes a lot of power to turn a motor over. Lights may still work but still not enough power to crank, could also be poor connection to battery, starter motor or earth, but start with checking battery charge, even run start it if possible.

Thanks guys, I'll try and jumpstart the battery tonight and see.  It's not the first time it's done this but it is the first time that i've heard the noise.

Looks like i may need a bigger battery then?
