Anyone comprehensively insure with Shannons in their MR2? I called them today for a quote and they asked me ****loads of questions (date, type of speeding fines etc) then quoted me almost $1300/annum for agreed value of only $8k. Excess is fixed at $500 and you can't change it.

Considering I've never had a crash/claim that was my fault, I'm now insured with Just Cars for half that with agreed value almost $11k lol

Just thought I'd share.

If your MR2 is your 2nd car (like it is for many), then consider NRMA classic car insurance. I got quoted about $600 comprehensive for my SW20 with agreed value of $18k.

Conditions are that it must be garaged, be 15+ years old, <9,000kms use per year and you must have a daily drive.

Whats your age ?
Words of wisdom passed down to me at an early age.
Its great to find a cheaper price for insurance and agreed valve BUT you will know only know how good a deal you have the day you make a claim.

Shannons allows you to select which company to repair your car no matter whose fault it is Just Cars doesnt. To me thats the biggest plus in my books

I am with Shannons and have been for 7 years of ownership. Agreed value above purchase price and full list of mods. under $600 / year on a "limited" use package.

dylan - the MR2 is my 2nd vehicle (weekend), I ride a motorbike for a daily all year round. So its garaged 90% of the time. I think I'll give NRMA a call then, I'm only paying by the month though, so I can cancel Just cars if need be.
MANDALAY - I'm over 25, considering most people make a claim on ave what, every 10 years? (hopefully I wont have to!) and I can appreciate the savings. Most crash repairers are the same to me and I dont trust most of them anyway from my experience so i only care that it gets fixed.

Scott - I told the guy I only drive it on weekends and he said "so you ride your bike rain hail or shine to work?" and I said "yes, I've got plenty of gear". BUT He still put me down as 'Private Use' and 'Regular use' so "limited" must be very limited then.

^for yours? They obviously didnt believe mine was limited use. Going to wait for this quote from Nrma see how cheap it is.

I was with Shannons 4AGEs (very poor AW11 pun there), but just switched to Lumley Special Vehicles a couple of months ago.  I couldn't see any difference in their policies but Lumley's were cheaper.  They asked lots of questions, and insisted on photos, which Shannons never did, but it was worth it.  I too am on a limited use policy.

Shannon's wouldn't give me the full limited use discount, only a partial one. It gets driven once a week. Next time ill push for it more, and if not ill shop around.
