UPDATE

After waiting months my MR2 has finally had its turbo replacement! So far the turbo, intercooler, spark plugs and BOV have been done. The boost controller and boost gauge will happen shortly.

I have no pictures yet but the car is running so well. The high flowed turbo spools so nicely and the blow off valve flutters and sounds awesome. The car is reasonably quicker as well, it will really kick in once the boost is wound up.

At the moment all I want to do is drive and drive and drive but I've called it a night and will keep driving tomorrow :)

I LOVE MY MR2!

Here's a video of me driving past with the new setup. Couldn't do anything crazy because it's a residential street.

UPDATE

A few things will be happening within the next month as I prepare for my first track day ever on the 4th of May (my birthday!)

  • Installation of roll centre adjusters to reduce bump steer
  • Installation of rear hub centric spacers
  • Replacing current wheel nuts with titanium wheel nuts
  • Installation of boost gauge & red/blue shift light
I currently possess all of these parts and will post photos once complete.

UPDATE

Been trying to diagnose / fix my idle issue. Working on the car with my future father-in-law and he found it to be the blow off valve not sealing quickly enough so air is getting back in the engine and causing it to stall on deceleration. Going to be removing the blow off valve to see if it definitely is the issue.

Cruising from the MR2 meet to St Ives.

Replaced the wheel nuts.

To do list:
  • Installation of roll centre adjusters to reduce bump steer
  • Installation of rear hub centric spacers
  • Removal of blow off valve
  • Installation of boost gauge & red/blue shift light

What model shift lite are you going to be running? I am interested in getting a shift light for mine and would like a small shift light that I could integrate into the cluster panel.

Here is the link to where I bought them from: http://www.chiptorque.com.au/shift-light/

I bought a red and a blue shift light. My plan is to install both behind the cluster so that it lights up blue at 6500 rpm and red at 7000 rpm :)

I am deleting the blow off valve, installing my boost gauge and the shift lights all next Monday. Also just had some 5mm hub centric spacers arrive for the front to go with the roll centre adjusters and reduce bump steer.

Watch out with the RCA's, if you don't also change your tie rod arms to suit they will actually increase bump steer on their own. RCA's were installed on my car and it handled like crap, it was down right scary putting power down exiting corners with the rear wobbling about and feeling very unstable!

How do you change your tie rod arms to suit?

Basically you want to space the tie rods to match the RCA's, I'm not sure if you can do this with the stock parts so you'll probably need something like these:

That takes care of the front but its a little more complicated in the rear, have a read of the post by CapRandom in this thread for quick explanation and follow the link he provides if you want to get technical! http://www.mr2.com/forums/threads/49340-Some-questions-about-RCA-s-and-Sway-bar-reinforcemnet-plates

If you want to go nuts you need a setup like this from Wilhelm Raceworks - http://www.wilhelmraceworks.com/index.php/8-products/5-suspension-geometry-kit

I personally found it all more then I could be bothered with so I just removed the RCA's and I was good to go.
