For 2-3k if you want to stay N/A, a Gen 3 3SGE OR Beams engine may be the way to go. I'm not the most mechanically minded so I can't say what N/A mods would be best $ per hp gained

I'd also say V6, as you can find an old Avalon, etc. and rip out the 1MZ (2GR is definitely out of reach). Not sure how much that'd cost you in the end though

Beams!
Dylan (Gorilla Industries) had one for $1500.

$1500 is good price but I read somewhere if it's from ST there is a lot to do to make it in to the rear of mr2. Plus you still need a lot more parts to make it ready. if it's from mr2 it's straight bolt on. I'll keep looking for now for options and see what happens I just need that extra 20-30 kW and I think I'll be happy with what I have. We all like power but for what I have and what I can do with it. It it will still put a big smile on my face.

Yeah, my MR2 Beams half cut cost around $4000, so it's not cheap unfortunately..

I'd say v6 if you want to stay n/a,but any swap will cost a fair few $
Perhaps take a look at some of the 1mz / 3vz / 5vz swaps and see how much that sets you back. You will get a lot more torque than a beams which will help with corner exit acceleration. The 1mz is alloy block so imo that would be the best choice for a cheap n/a swap. 2gr is even better but that's going to be at least 6k +

I feel it was worth it because of the unique character of the Beams. You really have to drive it to get the most out of it. A V6 would probably be more cost effective though.

V6 swap would be nice but $$$ will be way over.
I think I'll have to try to get the most out of my 3k for NA power.
Turbo swap will cost more 3 k too. I think.

Not sure if 3k could get me Cam exhaust and headers new clutch and some labour.
