I wanted to thank everyone who attended the AGM last Sunday for their participation and the usefulness of the discussion that took place about the Club and its future. I also wanted to thank the members who took the time to offer their formal apologies for not being able to attend due to prior engagements.
The meeting itself demonstrated in my view how excellent progress can be made while keeping "politics" to a minimum. Everyone contributed positively to the dialogue and we were able to cover a wide range of issues that hopefully will help the Club get stronger and grow our membership into the future.
The issue of how many MR2's were still registered in Queensland discussed at the AGM should stand as the prime example of just how unique and scarce these mid-engine Japanese sports cars really are becoming.
Despite so-called hero cars like the Nissan GTR that have come out of Japan, the MR2 model series still remains in my view one of the best examples of how you can do something different with design, engineer it properly, make it relatively easy to maintain, achieve almost unrivalled reliability, while still going like a scalded cat around twisty roads.
The Committee appreciates the support of all the members as we aim to make the next 18 months the best yet.
Walter
