Hi Guys,

I have just had that wonderful experience of the clutch peddle going flat to the floor and staying there  thankfully I was able to still limp the car home.

Anyway looks like the master cyl has decided its had enough so I am going to have to replace that and I thought whilst I'm at it I will also replace the slave cyl as I don't feel like repeating the process if the slave decides to die shortly after.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone happened to know the piston size of the slave cyl on the later model E153 boxes
Toyota Mr2 SW20 1992 - 1999 Clutch Slave Cylinder 22.22mm
Toyota Mr2 SW20 1992 - 1999 Clutch Slave Cylinder 20.64mm

A supplier in Melb has too different slave cyl and they are listed with two different piston sizes for the same year I am guessing one is for the turbo box and the other for the non turbo box, I was hoping someone may know which one I need.

Kind Regards
Nikayla

Hi Nikayla.
I'm pretty sure its the larger ( 22.22 mm)  I have an old piston here I just measured.
Larger bore on slave will help soften pedal but will reduce the length of travel at throwout bearing.

Hi Falcon,

I just got a call back from the parts supplier and he was able to cross reference the factory slave cylinder part number (31470-17040) and apparently my car should have the 20.64mm slave cyl.

What year model is your car?

That number rings a bell. Ive replaced mine & my car is a 96 GTS turbo.

Hi Nik,
I reckon that I have my old internals, which I replaced about 6 months ago. My car is 1996 N/A.

I will have a look & measure when I get home.

It is off a 94 model but it may not be original either.
It was the only one available to measure.

FWIW, my '90 model ADM uses a 22.2 mm diam clutch slave.

Well I hope the one I ordered is the right one and that the cross reference was correct.

Thanks for all the input guys I will keep you updated once the parts arrive.

Hi Nik.
Could you let us know the size of the original one in your car when it comes out as this could help explain the problems sometimes experienced in these swaps etc.  Would be much appreciated.
Thanks  Doug.
