Ladies and Gents,
IntroductionFor those that don't know, I used to own an evo 9 (tracked regularly) and later an evo 6 TME. I had to also sell my previous 3VZ-FE SW20 due to multiple extended overseas work trips, which was a bit sad because I didn't get to turn my vision for it into reality.
PurchaseFor some reason, V6 SW20's started to pop up for sale out of no where a fortnight before my departure on my most recent trip..
Thanks to an unsatisfactory experience with a 1MZ-FE sale transaction, I managed to convince myself to go all out (financially) to grab the weapon below.. A supercharged 2GR-FE hard top SW20.. I literally had to fly to Melbourne, drive it from Melb to Adelaide, back to Melbourne, then back to Adelaide to be able to get it registered. Then 4 days later I left overseas again, and the car sat in the garage..
Fortunately, this trip was unexpectedly very short (only 2 months, comparing to the previous one, which went for 9 months) and I got back 1.5 week ago :)
Current Configuration & First ImpressionThe current configuration (without listing everything) is pretty simple:
- Supercharged 2GRFE
- E153 (Quaife LSD)
- Gouki exhaust headers, Magnaflow exhaust
- BC BR coilovers + sway/strut bars
- Porsche 911 (996) brakes
- ABS and power steering removed. (Possibly aircon is next)
Very happy with the performance so far. On the track last week, it just felt good/strong/natural, and I was very impressed in general.
Future PlansI am still in the process of developing my vision for this car. I'm planning on tracking it regularly for now.
I know it will eventually end up a full-time track car, but I'd like to get there gradually.
The theme I am leaning towards evolves around the following principles (no particular order) :
safe structure, simple system(s), reliable power, light weight, cost effective.Few knowledgeable guys on here will hopefully help me achieve that ;)
WishlistPlans/dreams for the future (no particular order):
- Bucket seat/harness
- Roll cage
- 2-piece rotors
- Front splitter + rear diffuser
- Haltech Elite 2500 (it'd be nice to tune the thing and raise the rev limiter at least) + IQ3 dash
- E85 (free extra ponies and it smells like Jack Daniels.. Cant go wrong :)
- Short ratio steering rack (nothing off the shelf that I am aware of, so it will have to be custom made I guess)
- Light weight body panels (engine lid, boot lid, bonnet etc..).
- Decat pipe
Although it will take some time (to save up!) for me to get these parts, having them in my head has been really good to stop me from splashing money around on cosmetics and/or ineffective "upgrades" :(
Advice/comments are much appreciated :)
