It looked like Jeremy in the drivers seat of a white SW20. It was on way to work and I have not had much sleep but I thought it was him...

Was it going sideways in a plume of white smoke?

I'm just gonna leave some bad camera phone pics here. I've just had the flu followed by a good ol' dose of pneumonia. The upside of which is I've quit smoking and I've gotten some work done on the engine.

The SA guys may of noticed I've not been on the forums much, this is because I decided I needed to focus on my new career. So I ditched forums, facebook, reddit and etc for a few months while I did that.

This is what I'm stuck on now. This is a bolt that is used to hold the exhaust camshafts sub-gear pre-tensioned. Once the inlet camshafts are in the bolt can be removed and the exhaust camshaft subgear is released with tension against the inlet camshaft gear.... phew...

Anyway the bolt I'm using is too tall and prevents me getting the final camshaft journal cap fitted. So I need to buy a different bolt. Toyota has a specific part number for this 'service bolt'.

Nice to see you back Jez. I had started to wonder if that unidentifiable noise had driven you 'round the twist.

Whats your new direction for life/income? Thats whats good about cars vs. horses - they can be set aside indefinitely whilst 'real life' demands attention and money, then picked up again when we are ready.

Nice to be back Dudeman. That noise was a scored #4 main bearing. Not spun or worn, it looked more like a large particle had passed through and torn it up.

New directions? Well I left the Army after six and a half years. Had to get my head around fitting back in with the rest of society. I'm resting on my chefs trade for the moment while I look at doing something at uni in either 2013/14.

It's actually been quite pleasant having this motor sitting there with all the parts needed for the rebuild. If I had some spare time I'd just pop out into the garage and pick up where I left off.

Yeah pretty much. Right now I'm trying to figure out why the installation marks on the timing belt aren't matching the factory marks.

It's all sitting there waiting to go in now. Just got to tidy up the garage and get started.
