Hey All
OK so I am trying to fit an E58 gearbox into an AW11 and after boring the case to swap the shifter linkage over and cutting and shutting the C52 engine mounts the final hurdle is getting the right hand side drive shaft to work.
This what (i think) I know so far
An AW11 GZE shaft would fit but they are getting old, are hard to find and can't be bought new.
E58 shaft is too long by about 40mm
A Custom shaft (if you can find someone who does them properly) hurts your wallet bad.
Cutting and shutting the original shaft is dumb

2SRUS sell a custom shaft for fitting 3sgte/E153 into A Dubs

This shaft bolts up to  the S Dub MR2 Turbo supported stub shaft (In the image below the part on the left)

So while I  am pretty sure the E153 stub shaft is the right length and will work with the 2SRUS shaft - the bearing support bracket is different and the bearing may be in a different spot.
If I am lucky the bearing will be in the same position as the E58 Shaft and will be able to swap over the E58 bearing support giving me a bolt up fix and equal length shafts

This is where I need the help
Would anyone have a SW20 Turbo stub shaft they could measure?
1. From the spline end to the tip of the bearing
2. Diameter of the bearing
Pic below is of the E58 shaft but shows the measurements I need

If the measurements match the above does anybody want to sell one?

Thanks for your help

Pete

PS let me know if you spot any flaws in my theory

Pete.  Turbo shaft. Tip of spline to centre (middle) of carrier bearing. 358 mm.
V6 Manual Camry shaft. 355 mm.
Carrier bearing. OD. is about 72mm.  ID. is about 41mm.
Shaft can be machined to move carrier bearing longitudinally.
Hope this helps.

Awesome thanks for that Doug.
I think we might be in the ball park - there is probably enough wriggle room on the bearing mount and where the bearing sits on the shaft to make it all work.
Is the Camry shaft much different to the MR2 shaft - I thought the Camry shafts didn't bolt together like the MR2s

Thanks again - it's a big help

As far as I know V6.  1MZ. with manual gearbox. Shaft should bolt up to MR2  CV Joint.

Great thanks again

It is the position of the carrier bearing on the shaft that dictates the depth of spline engagement into the diff.
Needs to be + or - about 1 mm.  Adjustable by machining a new circlip groove in the shaft and a spacer collar.

Consider looking at ST185 GT4 drive shafts.
My E153 V6 AW11 uses the E153 stub and supported shaft along with a pair of ST185 GT4 front drive shafts (they fit AW11 hubs unlike SW20 shafts).
Unfortunately my car is in storage, so I can't measure them for you.

OK I have ordered a ST185 GT4 shaft from a mate in the trade (can return if doesn't fit) so all I need now is the stub and supported shafts.
Thanks for the tip

i have a new short stub axle for LSD and several used ones for non LSD. i probably also have a couple of GT4 axles

Hi Terry
I got hold of a e153 SW20 non LSD drivers side long shaft from the Sdub wreckers in Melbourne (at great expense) which fits into the block mounted bearing carrier off the E58 Just needs a little machining to extend the area where the seal sits.
I was going to use the passenger side shaft from the E58 which doesn't have the bolted flange.
But in the interest of symmetry and keeping things neat and factory looking I would rather use the short stub shaft and the GT4 shafts.
Will PM you for the details
