Eric
I've decided to start a thread for my girlfriend, in the hope that it will inspire her to be more active on the forums ;)

This is Erins 85 AW11 import. Imported in 2000, its since had a rebuilt motor installed, coilovers and other bits an pieces.

Erin bought some big wheels for it a while ago, but they were mismatched sizing, meaning the back needed flares but the front did not.

Regardless, still had some fun taking it to circuit and coffee (she scared me a little)

Anyway, it got to the stage where the rear flares were falling off as a friend had installed the for her with tek screws.

Erin wanted to have wider wheels all around and I was willing to help (and do them properly-ish).

Firstly, we did some test fitting of the new flares. These flares are Wide ZG Flares. They are designed for a 240z but fit pretty well with some adjustments. Below pictures are with the two rear wheels on one side

I also had a lot of confidence from my friends

The rears are 3.75inch flares with the fronts being 3.25. Huge!

The wheels.
Long story short, the back wheels are going on the front, the front wheels are being widened and put on the back.

I called in a favour with my mate Brett for the front wheels. Dont have any photos but as they are a welded 3 piece wheel, he cut the front lips off with a grinder and put it on a lathe to smooth the mating surfaces. New front lips are being made in Victoria and being shipped up.

My job was then to do the guards properly. Got the trusty gasless mig and grinder out and got to work. I only set the car on fire 3 times!

I used some stainless caphead bolts with Nutserts to make installation and removal a breeze.

Mounted on the car

Marked out and measured many times

Erin didn't want to be here for this bit

You could now see the inner guard, which needed to be "massaged" into place

First tacks

Done! The edge is a little rough but I fixed this later with the grinder

Started on the fronts next.

Erin had never used power tools so i got her to drill the holes.

Mounted

Nearly finished product

We also got an amazing deal on some supercharged tail lights and engine lid! Lid isnt shown but currently being painted.

That's all for now, hopefully the wheels will return soon and we can get this thing back on the road ASAP.... Because shes been driving my 2GR SW20 and now I never get to use it ;(

Looking forward to see what happens here.  When will you have your own log-in Erin?

Was it at Nationals 12 months ago that you first met?  And she lets you cut bits off her car now.......

I remember seeing Erin's car a few years ago at a Downshift meet back when I was rocking my fully sik CE Lancer (tezzas n all). Her car used to be covered in "Girl driven",etc. stickers

Makes me happy to see where it's come to since then - such a clean ride. Just pls keep it away from me during cruises, I can't deal with any more gunshot-esque exhaust pops. Too young for a heartattack

Looking good! Can you please let me know how much it ends up costing to have wider outer lips put on the pair of wheels? I'd like to put my rear Equip 03s on the front and have the fronts widened by about 2 inches for the rear.

Well, good news for Erin. I brokered a deal on an AE101 4AGZE long motor. No supercharger or manifolds. This is going to have a T25 strapped on with an aftermarket computer.

Erin dosn't have a specific power figure in mind, but I would like it to make close to 150KW at the wheels.

They make the barrels for $180 each to whatever size you want. The wait time is 6-8 weeks, or in our case longer. They make wheels for the V8 Supercar teams so it can take a while though...

The difficulty with the work equips is that most are welded 3 piece wheels. We had to cut the front lips off with a grinder then put the rims on a lathe to get back to the mating surface

Ok so new wheels are done. My mate drilled the barrels for me whilst I assembled them, then sealed them. He's such a legend! Here is a teaser pic. The new rim is the one in the back in the photo

They turned out really well. Rears are 9.25 inches wide now. not sure on the offset but they are designed to fit perfectly in the flares.

Tyres tommorow then on the car. Wohoo!

Those rims look awesome! Makes my Equip 03s offsets look weak :)

What tyre are you going with on the back? 225/50/15?
