Theres the graph of the car as it now stands. It's a slightly depressing linear power curve, i will end up dialling the cams up more aggressively at some point to try and get a bit of a mid range shove happening to fatten up the curve.

I quickly printed up a comparison between the turbo setup and the old supercharged setup. This was far from the best run on the old setup, but didn't want to go searching through all the files to find it. When it was supercharged, we revved it out to 9k, but with the extra boost and load on the engine, and the fact i was alays shifting by 8 anyway, we decided to drop the rev limit for saftey sake, and the power noses over quite aggressively anyway.

I went into work to get some bits and pieces done to the car today, while i had a few hours up my sleeve. First on the agenda was to fix the stereo. Ever since i bought the car, it has had a pioneer cd player, with equaliser in the second slot, and a 6 disk changer behind the passenger seat with an amp. I deleted everything but the amp, put a spare pioneer deck i had lying around in, i changed the line in on the amp to a set of RCA's, and changed the front speakers to some alpine s drive 2 ways. I still need to sort out some new 3.5 inch rear speakers, but this can wait for now. So for the first time ever, i now have an FM radio that can get stuff other than light FM!!!

Also, ages ago i bought some twos'r'us rear toe arms and a set of unknown rose jointed rear castor arms off RobYob when he cleaned out his garage, and with the new found power the car has, it felt like that back geometry was moving around a bit when i gave it a squirt. The castor arms are a bit odd, the threaded section that goes through the rear lower arm are a few mm thicker than the standard arms. Thankfully the bushes they came with are still serviceable, as i will have to sort out what bushes to take.

Oh, and i took some more pics of the turbo setup while i was at it....

Now, i said i was going to take over the side fan with the motec, but i was running out of time. I found that the sensor wasn't triggering the fan, so for now the sensor is disconnected to have the fan running flat out. I also coated the dizzy cap with some gold heatwrap, as i had a few scraps left over, and thought i'd put some bling in the engine bay.

Because i have always been curious, i put my car on my work cornerweight scales. Now i put the car on with **** everywhere in the car, and i have to say i was a little surprised the car weighs as little as it does. I know you might think it is high, but i have a large heat exhchanger, elec water pump, a big cooler, steampipe manifold, a heavy turbo etc, so the fact that the car is still semi balanced is good. If i sat in the car, the balance would be a lot worse, but i will play around with the weight balance when i get adjustable suspension.

Still a lot of sorting out and refining to do on the car, but at least some progress was made.

I've looked at this thread a few times, but I only just realised now whos it is! haha

Loving the way how all the aftermarket stuff is installed neatly, so much better than my hack job. I will also have to think about an air scoop, seems like a good idea.
I'm going to take mine out for a tune within the next week, it will be interesting to see how it performs compared to yours.

btw my build thread is here, in case you haven't seen it yet:

Trust me mate, mine is quite rough in person. It's one of those things where i take more time and care on customers cars than i do on my own. Yes, it will be good to see yours up and going, if i can be any help to you at all, give me a bell of fb or something.

I ran outof time to do the airscoop, but it is up there on my list, particularily before it sees the track.

What is up with the boost? Swinging 2-3 psi up and down in the mid range, must be costing you some power/torque through there.

Able to get some dyno graphs with the torque curves on them? Keen to see how the torque comes into it all when comparing the SC to the Turbo.

the boost swings a bit due to the actuator design on the efr turbos not being the best. we leveled it out, but it overboosted very easily, and 16psi very quickly turns to 20+ on a spike, so it has been left alone for now. When I get a chance to go do another printout I'll do one with torque.

I think all mechanics can attest to making the customers cars better!

Will have to come for a ride sometime Nath.

most definitely trav. also due to driving too many customers cars, this still feels really slow, hence I'm going to try for more midrange. I'll gladly take you for a spin.

Ah yes driving (or riding which is 100 times worse) dulls the speed senses alot. I hope my MR2 is faster than the Monaro...

The fastest Adub ive been in was Robs 3S version, so it will be good to see what the 4A is like.
