2015 MR2 NATIONALS - IMPORTANT UPDATE

Wednesday the 1st of April 2015 is only THREE days away, and on that day we open up the 2015 MR2 Nationals "Advanced Handling Day" (AHD) - code name for track sprints organised and run by the staff at the famous Willowbank Raceway - to everyone!!

Up until the 1st of April the Committee had placed an embargo on Queensland-based entrants getting a place on the AHD and at last look there are still a few places left, but with the locals chomping at the bit if the Entry Form and entry fees are not with us by Wednesday then nothing can be guaranteed.

As explained in the FAQ on the Queensland part of the Forum we choose to do this event because it isn't an open field on a racetrack against other cars, which means less stress for the driver and certainly little risk that the car will be damaged and unable to be driven back home at the end of the Nationals.

Hope to see you there.

An update on those entrants for the nationals whose payments have been received:

Paid Entrants
W. Williams
K. Williams
S. Baxter
R. Hayster
D. Kolsteeg
D. Rajamae
J. Coombs
K. Clarence
A. Oh
S. Caldwell
C. Everett
R. Larson
D. Diffey
P. White
M. Firth
I. Morrison
J. Wuttrich
J. Rosenbrink
J. Horrell
D. Ballantyne
D. Busmer
B. Pinkstone
D. Cooper

I have done a preliminary count of the paid entrants for the advanced handling day, and although we have had 20 people total register for the event, only 16 of those have paid. If you have nominated for the AHD and your name is on the list, you are in.

As it is a matter of first come, first serve, those who register and pay for the AHD first will get in. There are 4 spots remaining, so get your entry form and your payment in!

I will try and update the list ASAP when the last spot is filled, but if for some reason you pay for the AHD and miss out on a spot, we will refund you the money for advanced handling day.

Any questions, do not hesitate to ask :)

Thanks for bringing us all up to date on this.   Good to know.
Looking forward to catching up with a lot of you again as I really did enjoy the last MR2 Nationals in Tasmania.
Queensland Nationals should be great and a bloody lot closer too.

2015 NATIONALS - IMPORTANT UPDATE NO3:

With a little under three weeks to go before the MR2 event of the year, and as the Committee finalises arrangements, it was felt that an update might be of interest to those who are attending, those who intend coming but haven't paid or put their entry forms in yet, and those who are still wavering on whether to attend or not.

Numbers

From the last time possible numbers were reported by Eric we have now confirmed that at least 35 MR2's will be there for the weekend, the total number of people attending is over 50, and 45 or more attendees will be sitting down on the Sunday night for the dinner at which the trophies will be awarded and some rare Toyota items raffled off.

Too Far To Come Or Not Enough Time?

If distance or time to travel has been a consideration in not coming, then apart from those attendees driving from Victoria and New South Wales we now have for the first time an AW11 being driven to attend the 2015 Nationals all the way from Western Australia across the Nullabor Plain and back.

This driving effort has to be up there at the top of the list with some of the distances covered by Rick from Ceduna, SA, It is also enough to make any MR2 owner, yours truly included, stop and think before the reason "its just to far" is ever given for not going to a Nationals meet. Especially sitting for that long in an AW11!

The Advanced Handling Day (AHD)

The AHD on Saturday the 6th of June is now fully subscribed, but a couple of lucky people who had paid their money and who were waiting to see if there were any vacancies should receive a pleasant surprise in the next five days when they receive the email advising them that they are now in.

AHD Attendees Please Note The Following:

After further discussions with Queensland Raceway staff today there are some requirements the Committee would like you to complete before you arrive, the most important of which is the on-line licence and registration. The process to do this relatively simple and doesn't take much time if you have internet access, but if you don't then other arrangements have been made to get this done before you arrive. This will all be detailed to you in a personal email about the AHD which you should look for at the email address you gave on your entry form in the next five days.

Still Thinking About Coming, Only Part Paid, Or No Entry Form

A small number of attendees have either only paid the $50.00 Registration Fee, paid the whole amount but not submitted an Entry Form, or have submitted an Entry Form and not paid yet.

The Committee is hoping that as many people as possible will come to the Dinner on the Sunday night, but we need to confirm numbers by the 3rd of June. If you are intending to be at the Nationals and come to the Dinner but were waiting to pay, or haven't paid but have submitted an Entry Form, then we would like to ask for your help so that all matters can be finalised hopefully as soon as possible, but no later than the 3rd of June.

If there are any problems or someone has any difficulties with paying, or if like me can't remember if I put the Entry Form in or not, then please PM me or Groper and we can sort this out for you. Because catering for the Dinner and the AHD are numbers critical there cannot be any refunds post the Nationals.

Don't forget, if you have any questions about the Nationals then either post them on this part of the Forum, send myself or Groper a PM, or preferably send them to Nationals2015@MR2Club.com.au.

This is shaping up as a seriously great event so hopefully see you there.

Walter

Out of interest, who is it that is coming across from WA?  We could use some company heading across from Mount Barker when we leave! :P
