wiso
I would like to introduce myself for those that do not know me my name is Joel and I have just been appointed the President of the MR2 owners club of Australia NSW Branch.

A few years ago a new group of people tried to reignite the NSW MR2 owners club rather than seeing the club dissolve and disappear. I would like to thank this group for putting in their time and effort in resurrecting the club. Since this time the club has had Tom and Jullian take the Presidency in the hope the club can get back off the ground. There has been a lot of talk this year on the forums about the state of the club and what is happening with the club etc.

For the time being a new committee has been appointed. I would like to start by thanking the previous committee for their effort in keeping the club going. With a new committee unfortunately it may take some time to get our heads around what is required to keep the club running and the general background filing. But this does mean with new invested interest and a different outlook on priorities we all hope the club can get back on track which we all imagined it should be.

As it stands we have 5 committee members;

Joel (wiso) – President
Dylan (dylmrt) – Treasurer
Paul (senor_2)– Social Events coordinator/general
Tom (darius)– Social Events coordinator/general
Tracey (aussiespyder)– Secretary/Public Officer

Please contact any of these people with anything you may want to know about the club or activities.

Just because these are the committee it does not mean that these are the only people who can organise events. If any club members wishes to organise any events they can contact one of the committee with their plans to make it official. A committee member must be present at each event held in the name of the MR2 Owners Club of Australia.

We want to see a larger mix of MR2's getting involved. Its no surprise that a large majority of the members own the mk2 MR2 (SW20) so we regularly see a number of these. What we don't see is many mk1 (AW11) or mk3 (ZZW30) MR2 owners getting along to the events. In the past the club has been passed off by these owners claiming the club is geared more towards the SW20. But some of the new committee members are passionate about the AW11 and ZZW30. So we are hoping to put that idea to rest. We will all strive to keep the club as fair and as partial to encourage member with any MR2 to join in.

So what does this mean for you, the members, well in the coming months you will see the club get back on track for a monthly event. Whether this be club cruises or other social events. You will also hopefully see by the end of the year the club join up with other clubs to take on some small motorsport events for those interested. And let’s not forget the all important MR2 nationals in 2013 to be set down in Tasmania.

With some great work from the treasurer and the previous president the Club memberships were reduced to $20 flat annual fee for NEW members in 2013. Renewing in Febuary 2014. This Is a great way to get new members to come along and try the club out without the burden of high costs for what I am sure most people are seeing as little gain atm. But rest assured we will try our upmost to get more going making the membership great value.

With that in mind if anyone is after more info about the club itself or membership or even events please email mr2nswsec[at]gmail.com

Thank you and I look forward to seeing you all at our club events.

Welcome to your new role wiso, I'm looking forward to seeing some great progress for the club very soon with the new committee!

BTW everyone, I will be organising another go-karting day for the club very soon, hopefully on the 29th of June...I'll be confirming this ASAP. Last time we went to the karts near Windsor, so this time I'm thinking of going to the Picton karts for a change.

Good to see its still operating.
Rob, the Newcastle track hires the two stroke karts which would be an excellent day of racing.
I'm happy to offer discounts for club members to the MR2 Trackday Challenge to help bolster numbers for the club.
Also willing to advertise the club and provide links to the club's website via the ultimatetrackdaychallenge website.

Cheers

Steve

Dudeman,
Picton is a great little track and the karts are ok. We ran there in the pouring rain. It was the best day. Good organisation, timing, trophies etc. Will find the pic's.
