In the wet, the 595-SS i found up front in the wet are adequate. Under hard straight line braking coped better under hard braking that the old Eagle F1 I had, and wet cornering seems to understeer a little less. (this is after they've been run in, as the first 1000kms they are very average grip wise).

The rears however, I found they did not cope with the 250rwkw the car makes and so would be prone to traction loss in the wet. Like anything you get what you pay for, but the Federals in my opinion out perform their price by a long shot.

I used to run bridgestone s03's and they had amazing grip, but ended up being 3x the price of the 595SS.

If you're not driving stupidly in the wet, I found the 595SS was overall a decent tyre, with enough braking grip to keep you out of trouble in the event of some unavoidable stickier situations

The AD08 is a FANTASTIC tyre for track and it is what we ran on the Gorilla Industries Supra last year at World Time Attack Challenge last year. The dry grip and lateral grip really is 2nd to none when it comes to "street" rated tyres.

However, the price tag means we were paying a lot more per tyre than the RSR. The RSR is about 60% cost for the big ones (265/35/18 and 285/35/18), and as such, we're going with the 595RSR at this year's World Time Attack Challenge @ Eastern Creek.

If money is no object then by all means AD08. If you want a better bang for buck tyre, I still can't go past the 595RSR.

Thankyou Dylmrt for filling me in on this with an open opinoin, i was worried id get suckered in and miss lead by the tire companieswanting to sell there brand tire not best for price. Money for me is hard to come by as im an apprentice but i make do how i can. i think i will go with the 596RSR as i dont drive like an idiot in the wet or on public roads, and for the price of them i can buy 2 or 3 sets for the price of one. cheapest i got quoted down here for the ADO8's was $1148 fitted but that is was out of my price range i had a hard enough time buying the rims :P and you stock RSR dont you Dylmrt?

^255 looks too wide/balloons on an 8.5" rim.

I've put 235 RS-Rs on a 9" Enkei Racing S and its perfectly flush with the edge of the rim.

bahahaha
So you're implying that extra 20mm makes a world of difference?

I've probably said this before...

People don't realise, wider does not automatically mean better (esp. in the wet). People who say wider tyres produce more grip "because there is more rubber on the road" are wrong. When you make a tyre wider, you alter the contact patch to be wider , but it reduces in length. So depending on sidewall stiffness, a wider tyre can actually give less rubber on the road. It depends on the car, the situation, the conditions.
N.B.
1)  Wider tyres are more prone to aquaplaning.
2)  Wider tyres are more sensitive to camber control.  (and we all know SW20 Macpherson strut sussy isn't great at that)
3)  Wider tyres on the same rims might not perform as expected, as rim width relative to tread width can have a significant effect.
4)  It is virtually impossible to get a result with all other things being equal as there are a lot of variables.

considering 3rd gear in the dry full throttle spins the wheels as it comes onto boost, i dont really want to try a thinner tyre.

in the end i think im going to get the federal 595's as they will be a good affordable tire :) hopefully i will have all the things i have gotten on the car by the next meet, thanks for all the help
