hi guys nathan here, got a few questions which im trying to figure out and understand the reason behind it all. I ve seen a few people on the forum going around with 255 wide tires on 8.5 wide rims. Now i love putting wide tires and rims on cars but wouldnt running that size tire on that size rim cause excessive tire roll and instubility in cornering ? i want to know the reason why people are opting in the this size tire because ive recently bought te37's in 17's and im trying to figure out what width in tire will be best. Take in mind it will be a weekend car and do some light to medium track work of the novice type but i do like the wide tire look on them.

On my previous MR2 I used a set of 255/35/18 on an 8.5 TE37 only because I wanted the most grip due to having a high HP engine.
Do you need wide tyres? A smaller width would fit better and most likely be cheaper as well.

What are the specs of your TE37s?

put a 245 on it then. i need as much grip as i can get. and the 595 RSR doesnt have any sidewall roll.. its stiff as!

Gorilla Industries (Forum Sponsor) supply them at good prices. I will be ordering four Federal 595RSR from them very soon for my AW11.

I run 235/40/17 Federal 595 RS-Rs and they're most definitely not ****e in the wet. I have to be pretty reckless to get them to slide in the wet (something you shouldn't be doing in an MR2).
Although I hear the 'Super Steel' 595 is a different story.
