viscious rumor, not sure if its true but luan has the last known vial of small pox kept under wraps (behind the girlie calendar in his garage) to be unleashed on the next FWD cruise also know as the Honda Club Run brought to you by V-Tec yo.

So besides spamming, this has actuall been an engrossing and entertaining read.can't wait for future developments B.Are you still going to keep the car road registered??

Hey Brendan,

Nice write up. Brings back memories of when Tristan was building my motor. About the higher compression ratio, I've driven an MR2 with greater than 9:1 in the past, & the amount of extra torque it generated was noticeable. I'm writing about 10 things at the moment, but will discuss with you the advantages/disadvantages of the high compression engine next time we catch up (prolly with Luan).

It's done! Engine's back in the car and Tristan's taken it for a couple of hoons...I mean test drives.

There were a few additional hiccups since my last update. It turned out that my crank was indeed damaged quite badly. Not quite sure from when, and it probably wasn't from the same time I blew my pistons. Didn't quite understand Tristan here. Anyway, Tristan had a spare one lying around somewhere, so we used that instead.

During the test hoon, Tristan heard an "unpleasant sound". Not sure what it is, but he thinks it might be a leaking BOV. I sure hope it is the BOV and not the Turbo...alternatively, as suggested by Luan, it could be the whistling noise produced by the ARC induction box...maybe. Would be good if that was indeed the cause.

Other than the above, everything's good.

Haven't tried the OS STR clutch yet, but according to the test hoon, it hooks up very well and is as light as stock. Twin Plate chattering is also apparently less than the OS R2CD. I think it has the test hoon's seal of approval. Although...it seems like Tristan wants something even more hardcore and has some scheme to modify the OS STR into some monster. [x2x]

What else...hmm..I think that's it. For anyone who's interested, Perth to Syd transport (depot to depot) cost $840 by TOLL Autologistics.

Enjoy the pictures. Might be some more to come.

Not sure what Tristan was trying to show me here:

The Re-Assembled Engine!

Check out the cool HKS Cam Gears. Pity you can see them when the engine is back in:

Hmm...check out the bracket that the altnerator bolts on to in picture 3. Can someone make a lighter forged Aluminium version of that? That'd be a good way to save a few kgs...

Yes someone on the OC had a few made up ?Walker Racing? alternator bracket, looks about 10kg lighter than stock. Now need someone to replicate it in Aus.

There's a picture of it in one of my engine rebuild threads.

What kind of skills/expertise are required to make something like that? Bascially, under what category in the Yellow Pages should I be looking for?

Assuming the right workshop can be found, it -should- be as simple as rocking up and saying "i want this in aluminium"...right?[xo]

Edit: Looking again at picture 3...gotta love how easily accessible the oil filter is. [}:)]

Anyone that can machine Aluminium could make you a copy, getting an original for a template might be tricky though.

If you were confident you could even sketch something with dimensions then get it made, I've been umming and ahhing about this for a while, the OE bracket really is disgustingly heavy.

Ok...I'll see if I can get my hands on a bracket...from somewhere.

Is machined Aluminium strong enough? I was just wondering if the stock bracket was so heavy for a reason... Will the contact between different metals (alum bracket -> iron engine block) cause any problems?

Could we use Carbon Fibre isn'tead? [88] Just curious...not really serious.
