I'm not entirely sure what the problem is. Are you saying that your high beams are on constantly and can't turn them off? Are your standard beams aimed so high that it looks like they're on high beam?

When i use standard lights it's high beaming. When I try to highbeam it doesn't even show on the dash I am. back and forward on the stalk doesn't change the light.

If I don't use lights then there's no lights, but if I do its highbeam 100% of the time.

Ah so its an electrical issue, afraid I'm not an expert on this but I'd start by checking fuses and connections to the lights to make sure all the wires are intact if you can. Have to wait for a brighter (no pun intended) MR2 owner to chime in.

Or even just check both low beam globes are not blown.  I have had it happen to me before, when both globes went at the same time.

As said check the bulbs, it check they also 55/60w and not something crazy like 90/110 as mine had. This caused my relay to fry so naturally relay, fuses etc are super easy to check first. Then it's multimeter time.

I don't know what may be causing the problem, but if bulbs/fuses all check out ok it may be time to check that the steering column switch is working ok.

Depending on how good you are at electrical stuff I think you may be able to remove the panel under the column to get at the connector (see pic) and use a multimeter to test the switch action. But you would need the service manual electrical circuit diagram as well as the wire color codes.

If the switch turns out to be faulty it may be hard to fix, and the switch housing is easily broken if you try to take it apart.
