Just purchased this car a couple of weeks ago from interstate.  A few of you guys (Graham, Alex, Josh) have seen the car (white pearl 1990 G-limited Gen 2 conversion) actually not my ride but Lee's (MR2D2).  Just helping out a friend.

yeah ok no worries, to be honest i would try not risk anything there, as if they even suspect something wrong/illegal they will most likely go through the whole car while your there

Ah decisions... Thanks for all your thoughts / suggestions guys.  I will let you know what happens.

On another note - Alex, what turbo are you running to get 243KW?

it was a cheapish turbo i think they refered to it as a hr43 from hypergear, but now have a precision 6262 dbb and hoping to make alot more... (check my showroom thread for all details - http://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?tree=true&m=12100 )

dont like you chances mate, from stories i have heard, they are very thorough with inspections at regency, just ask josh mrturbo

Yes in a full roadworthy they go over the thing with a fine toothed comb...
but I think with an 'ID check', so long as the car looks clean and stock there shouldn't be any reason for them to put it up on a hoist, so you shouldn't have any problems IMO. Also, having seen it I think it'll get through easy.

PRO TIP:
Make up  (or use from a different car) some of the plastic covers that go over the strut tops.  Any mechanic worth their salt would recognise something is different with adjustable top hats visible :P

Ok - Last night made some rubber covers to go over the top of coilovers (strut tower tops) - looked great.  Proceeded to take of the 18s' and fit standard 15' wheels (thanks Graham).  Tried to fit then found they coilovers were hitting the inside of the tires.  So back on with the 18's.  Car is registered (VIC) until Dec 12 so have a bit of time to located the springs I need.

Well, took the MR2 (G-limited) Gen 2 3sgte conversion thru the 'Vehicle Inspection Station) Regency park today, what do you know..  It has to go for a full roadworthy inspection ($250 bucks) gone up a little since last time I visited.  Reason being is there is no compliance plate fitted.  So things on the (to do) list:

1.  Removal of adjustable boost controller
2.  Removal or hide very well the turbo timer
3.  Replace Coilovers with standard struts / springs
4.  Replace exhaust with standard or one under 90db & cat is operational
5.  Remove non compliant sun visors
6.  Ensure all lights etc are operational
7.  No fluid leaks (anywhere)
8.  Put on standard 15' wheels.

I think that is about it for now, until I can think of something else.

Hide the turbo timer and controller behind the dash panel below and to the right of the steering wheel.  Dead easy to re-install later on :)

Swap + cash for coilovers if you're that way inclined lol :P
