When I had a service done a month ago I asked him to do a thorough check because I was heading to Adelaide.  I also mentioned that every now & then there was a very small coolant puddle at the rear of the drivers side.  He checked & said he thought it was the water pump, but just keep an eye on it & should be ok for a while.  Everything else was AOK.  Timing belt was done at 196k & she is now at 272k, so about 25k off a timing belt change.   I may be able to wait until then & possibly head to Brissy for a holiday & also get Craig to do a renew of stuff.   And maybe watch a bit & have a good look at under the car, etc.
 
Larger puddle & more often.  My 500ml squeeze bottle usually lasts a few months, checking every couple of weeks.  But I have topped up every day since Friday morning & have put in about 1 1/2 Litres, so she is at the Mechanic now.  Probably another good reason for me to not be driving her over to Adelaide.
 
Will he have to drop the motor to do the water pump?  Would it be worth getting the timing belt done now as well?  Is there anything else I should ask him to check & renew while he is there?  Or should I just get him to do the water pump & still get Craig in Brissy to do timing belt & other stuff next year?
 
Remember to not get too mechanically technical on me, lol.

Definitely do the timing belt (full timing belt kit) which also includes bearings / pulleys whilst doing the water pump, as most of it has to be removed to do the water pump. No, engine doesn't have to be removed. Not that big of a job.

The timing belt has to come off anyway to take the waterpump off. While you're there best to do everything and save the headache of another 3 or so hours labour to r+r the timingbelt.
 
Only worth dropping the engine if you have to change the clutch and belt (as which i did recently).

Thanks for the input guys.  I'll give them a call & let them know to order that as well.  
 
Anyone in Newy got a spare car for a week or so?  Won't need it after 28th & hopefully my baby will be ready when I got back from Nationals. 
 

As mentioned, it is always important to change the water pump whenever you do a timing belt, but make sure that it is a genuine Toyota one. Could all end badly with some aftermarket ones.

Yep. As Red says try to use only Aisin genuine water pump as used by Toyota.
Aisin is significantly different internally to some other aftermarket rubbish.
