This car was bought 1/1/2016 for Kazumasa and Ken competition duties at MR2 Trackday Challenge 2016. It also provided entertainment for a few other people.
The car was originally from Sydney then moved to Canberra then returned to Sydney in my care.
I was not in the best shape on receiving the car but being a hardtop with no accident damage or rust, it had potential. After MTC, it was apparent the turbo was seized, exhaust broken, wiring issues which required work before getting the car registered. So after spending a reasonable amount of my spare time restoring the car, it's now registered and a interesting ride.
Thanks Alex for supply of the turbo. It certainly has helped a lot.
The repair and mods list to date includes:
20b turbo
3"dump pipe
3"cat back exhaust using new stainless muffler and my old exhaust tip from the race car. I tig welded everything. Wouldn't recommend this task as it's pretty time consuming.
New exhaust manifold studs, turbo mounting studs, dump pipe studs.
New intercooler mounting flange and mounts for after market intercooler, reworked intercooler pipes
Aftermarket bov which is plumbed back to factory spec.
The rest is stock.
Fixed the lazy clutch.
Fixed 20+ wiring defects.
It's runs BC coil over with heavy spring rates, no sway bars.
The wheels are a friends but will be fitting a set of enkei RP01.
It will have a few upgrades to help with Trackdays but nothing crazy as the race car is for extreme

Good to see Steve and as you say, no previous damage so well worth keeping.
And it's got two seats too. I like that.
Can I have first dibs on my bum in left seat in December please?
The Irish can't seem to figure out that they are two seat cars.
You have obviously put in a bloody lot of work to get it to where it is now.
Well done. Thanks for showing us.

Certainly can Doug. I have work to do(on this car) before I head south but will be ready for our little trip. Perhaps we can coax the Irish national into fitting an extra seat while we are in town.

A lot of fun to be had in that baby.

I took it for a run to Wisemans ferry over the weekend. It was really hard on the car. Wouldn't recommend driving that road. Steering is like a go-kart. Really heavy! It was good to drive a mr2 on the street. Very different experience. Really enjoyed it.

Nice work Steve!
Yeah as much as I love having track cars, keeping an mr2 for the Aussies roads is still a must. Their beautiful little cars as we all know.

Thanks Mike. There was a huge amount of work to get it registered but its worth it. Just looking forward to driving to the track as opposed to towing it. Still, the race car will be worth the effort once I finally fix all the defect by so-called professionals..

The spring rates on your coilovers must be pretty serious. I live on Old Northern Rd and go down to Wisemans regularly and its pretty smooth given it hasn't had fresh bitumen put down in over 15 years, the road doesn't do too much kidney bashing.
