Jay, just curious what your tyre sizes are? 205's for the 8" and 245's for the 9.5"? I'm trying to get an idea of price on tyres for these style rims as I'm looking at possibly buying some nice Work (unsure of style yet) or possibly Rays Gram Light rims - most likely 18" too, they seem to be the best looking size on MR2s.

Front is 215/35 (18x8 +35)
Rear is my old 225/40's (18x9.5 +29).....soon to be 245/35 though

17's look pretty good on a stock body, 18's suit SW20's with beefier bodykits. The tyre size depends on your offset/width. Depends what you're after.....dish, tyre, hellaflush [88] If my rears had a higher offset, I'd be able to stuff 265/35's with ease (probably more) without adding camber, but at the cost of dish. Only way I could do that now is by adding a bunch of camber, which will pretty much defeat the purpose of having the wider tyres.

Tyres aren't that expensive these days, you can get some nice Kumho's or Hankook's for a decent price in Sydney. Prices got a lot better in the past few years.

Hope you dont mind me bumping this up.

But I am seriously considering a set of these with 17x8+30 at the front (I know these will fit without any issue)

Have you had to dial much camber in to fit the rears to fit within the arches? I am guessing the guards are completely rolled? (Rears I am looking at are 18x9 +30) - on coilovers though, if that matters.

/\ guards will have to be rolled but that setup will look phat

dasic1 - sorry for epic late reply...haha Will post pics of the engine bay again soonish.

chase_d - Fronts will fit, my old rims were about that size/offset. As for the rear, I didn't dial in any extra camber, I don't have camber adjustability @ this point (since I have no issues). Not running coilovers. Guards are rolled/tinkered with about as much as possible (short of flaring).  My Meisters are less offset with a wider rim, so 18x9 +30 should be no problem @ all.

Will quickly chuck on more up to date pics in this thread too now that I'm replying to it.
