I agree, money wise not worth it. But I'd do anyway, I have an odd loyalty/connection, as I'm sure most of us do, to mine and if I was in your boat I'd do it!

Yea you could buy another clean car for that amount of money. I know SW20SC has a lot of sentimental  value but realistically you'd probably regret spending it 2 months down the track. Really nice of them to go through it all with you though. I'd probably just focus on the mechanical things that need fixing, e.g. gearbox, bushes and other mechanical gremlins to make the car run beautifully. Keep the car polished and waxed so the paint doesn't get worse (will cost $60 every 3 months for a decent polish/wax). 
 
Then one day upgrade to a clean turbo rev5 ;) Now that Rob's car has planted the seed of power it will eventually consume you like it has us all haha. 

I won't regret spending that amount of money on a respray.................... it's aint gonna happen.
Good idea to focus on the mechanical stuff.  Hopefully when we can arrange a suitable day/weekend for the gearbox swap, the guys will have a good look for me & let me know what else I should be looking at replacing.
I should learn to use the Wax Attack Polisher that I won.  Just haven't had the time yet to have a go.
Yes, I did enjoy driving IMPSBL ,................ but you all know the power of a turbo would be wasted on me.  I'd only get the use on the On-ramps, lol.

Prep the car yourself for paint.  The more you do yourself, the less the painter can charge.

hahaha.  Prep the car myself??.  It would probably end up a bigger job for them................

One on-ramp with boost is better than no on-ramp with boost :p Even still you could get a stupidly tidy N/A late model targa one for that price. But yes, I'd much rather drive a mechanically perfect car with cosmetic blemishes than a beautiful show car that clunks and rattles (It's a shame I don't have either hahaha). 
 
Yep one weekend have a crack at polishing it's fairly straight forward albeit labour intensive, having said that its far less intensive than prepping for a respray haha.

yep back to thinking about what might need to be done to keep her going & improve handling, etc............  After all I don't see the blemishes while I'm driving.  

Your major problem is the way the clearcoat is failing. Most painters would be reluctant to paint over what's left in case it started to peel again - that's why they want to go back to bare metal. But get the mechanicals sorted, use your car care products to keep the remaining paint happy & win Lotto!

Yep, back to focusing on the mechanicals.  
She is running quite well at the moment tho.  

Finally someone else took her for a drive for me. Only around the block, but enough for him to know she doesn't feel right. I have been feeling that, especially since driving IMPSBL. His description was "like a nervous camry". So it's not just me being overly cautious & like a nanna around the twisty roads. Peter from Road 2 Race was very helpful, showing me stuff. Now he will get prices & let me know my best option to get her back to driving like the sports car that she is.
Not feeling so silly now.

Glad to hear it was worth the trip down to see him and I am sure you will enjoy it a lot more once its sorted out.
