Hey guys,
I was doing some more work on the car this morning and found that I have had an air lock in the intercooler for more than a year, including the last MTC. This will not happen again.
For those of you with a W2AIC, I highly recommend that you use this bucket method to be absolutely sure that there is no air in the system.
I'm still waiting for the hose connectors to arrive so I can attach the hoses to the new heat exchanger. This time I'll make sure that there is no air in the system as I put it together.
Having a working intercooler means that I will make more POWER! YAY!

Here are some more changes.
  • Hoses are now attached to the new heat exchanger.
  • Additional holes put in the front bumper to improve airflow.
  • I moved the intercooler filler to be directly above the intercooler and the coolant pump. It was previously in the engine bay.
  • I added a separate overflow bottle so that the system would never be allowed to suck air in as the system cooled
Note that I love to use cable ties
They are lightweight and definite race car worthy.

having a bleeder in the top outlet of the HE helps in getting rid of air in the system too.

looks sweet
