Hey Salem, going very slow ive had a to do a fare bit of work on my other 2 2s.
 
but ive got tomorrow and Wednesday set a side hoping to get the old engine out tomorrow, tidy up the engine bay then on Wednesday get it mounted. (fingers crossed.)

Well fell short again but did mange to drop the engine out. Tip; if using a engine crane to lift the car remove the rear bumper and use the tow hooks.
 
Sending the cross member and a few other pieces to get powder coated.( Recommend Tai Powder Coating in Queanbeyan)
 
Still gotta do the timing belt and re-attach the engine harness before i can start putting it back in but atleast i got my motivation back.
 
 

Good to hear things are progressing at least!! My project is on the back burner for a little while. Work has been ridiculous for a few months!!
 
Should look at either doing a run or at least meet up for a chat some time.

Using the older block with the newer harness has been a little tricky such as there is no EGR and a few of the sensors are mounted in different locations. Not sure if running without EGR will affect the newer ecu i'll keep you posted.
I managed to find time to change the timing belt and seals on Saturday night so really just waiting on these headers and a few gaskets before i can mount the engine. (the 4v6 engine mount looks great on the engine.)

Nice evilbay link,  put it on my wish list - if my mz conversion ever gets off the ground.

Got the headers the y-pipe merges pretty well not the best but good for the money. So shiny. Will have to get them coated. 
 
New tip the early 94-96 1mz lower intake half does not mate with the new 96+ upper intake.... doh. So in my impatience ive decided not to sort this out till after the engine is at least in the car. Could be a mistake i'll let you know.  
 
My plan is to use the turbo charcoal cannister i'll let people know if the ecu doesnt like it.
 
 

Set back. Doing a test fit and the exhaust does not work at all the headers are too long. Rear set foul on the crossmember and  Y pipe sits way too low.

What's your plan to bypass the immobilizer? Or are you fitting it?

 
 
GOing to have a good at using the whole ignition from the Camry got the whole body harness and key with the ECU and engine harness.

Despite the long time taken so far to do this conversion the actual work required so far has almost been a little too easy. Take for example connecting the engine to the gearbox having not seen any others other than online i was prepared to drill and tap new holes but the 95 1mz bolted to my 93 E153 box. 5bolts and 2 dowels spaced pretty evenly around. Got the clutch from ABS in Fyshwick everything is from the Camry.
One problem that i made for myself is fitting the exhaust. its turning into a bigger issue because i tried to be cheap. The back end i took a torch to to bend closer to the engine (yet to test if this has made a problem with the driveshaft) but the front which stuck out just as far has issues with the selectors so i think its best to bin the lot and go back to the factory headers and get the rest of the system custom made. 
Has anyone in Canberra had any good experiences with the few car wreckers  we have? Theres not many to choose from and they know it. Kinda like when i chick knows she hot.
