I was lucky enough to be able to do a full paint depth check over all the metal surfaces before I start any paint correction. I'm not after a mirror finish but I do wish to reduce the swirl marks and increase the shine.
The results came back as I had expected with the Japanese single stage paint, no surprises. I found 2 spots that were down in the 60-70 micron range but the majority of the paint was in the low to mid 100s.
Quick and easy way to track the data is to take photos of each zone and write the measurement at the approx location.
The new DA polisher arrived. I started a test area on the frunk using different pad combinations. However after completing 1/4 of the frunk the machine sparked through the plastic guard vents and sounds like it's shorting out when the machine changes angle... Hopefully the interstate return/exchange is simple enough. I'm guessing it will be another 2 weeks before I can try again.
Photo of the test area. Reduction in swirls and increased brightness.
