Make sure you're careful for the first 300km or so! It takes a little while for the T1-R's to lose their shine and get to full grip levels. I've found that once they have, they're a great tyre for everyday driving.

I agree about being very carefull with them, especially at first.

In the past I have worn out 2 sets of T1R's on the rear in the stock 15 inch sizes.
When new, I found them very tricky for the first few hundred kms with the main problem being the rear end float.
However, overall I found they grip very well in both wet and dry, but I thought the rear of the car still moved around too much for my liking even after they were fully scrubbed in, and trying different pressures didn't help.
But I'd like to emphasize that is just my own preference, because several people in the Vic MR2 Club run them in the stock 15 inch sizes, and they seem happy with them, so maybe I'm just picky.

Some people believe that T1R's sidewalls are too soft in 50 profile sizes to match the rear weight bias of MR2's that causes the rear end floaty feel, however I suspect it may be the outer tread blocks flexing, since as they wear down the problem diminishes until when they are around half worn out the rear end float is much less noticeable.

Thanks for the insight, Redtarga. I'm leaning towards buying another pair of Falken ZE912 for the rears since the front tyres still have plenty of tread left.

Did a front brake refresh last night with DBA 4582 rotors and QFM A1RM pads. Unfortunately the rear brake pads still haven't been made yet, disappointing since I have been waiting weeks along with another club member. Many phone calls but no luck. I drove to work on the Toyo R888R tyres today. Felt good.

First track day completed. It was great to experience something new with the car and it has sparked/rekindled some new interest. It drove flawlessly at the track. I was glad to have done the full major service and other preparations beforehand such as, stainless lines, new pads and rotors, tyres, while not necessary to have a good time, all the little things added up and filled me with that extra confidence going out on the track. I was extremely impressed with the R888R tyres, I definitely was not using them to the full potential with my amateur driving. I felt as if I was going to fall out of the seat before the car lost grip on the corners.

I helped a club member make up custom AW11 mirror mounts to be used with his motorcycle mirrors to assist in his weight loss efforts. Modelled in fusion 360 and printed with ABS plastic, took 2 attempts to reach clean result. Still some room for improvement with later revisions and experiments but extremely happy with the outcome.

Trying to keep on top of the paint maintenance. Red is hard work.

For this detail I tried:
- Dodo juice clay bar and slippy lubricant
- Dodo juice lime prime plus (more aggressive than the others in the range)
- Dodo juice rainforest rub wax (Soft wax)
- Lake country light cut hand applicator pad (I used 3 as the red paint clogs up pad quickly)
- Mint foam applicator pads for the wax
- Mint microfibre premium cloths

Happy with the clay and lubricant and the lime prime plus polish went on and off easily enough. Just need to polish a small section and remove immediately. I was a little disappointed with the wax, it could of been that I was applying it to thick and it was taking longer to haze...not sure but it was hard to wipe off. I will try the hard wax next time.

Photos post polish.

Looks great! These work well on red,

Have a look at the durogloss sealants too, they're amazing. I usually put a layer of durogloss 105 then a layer of dodo banana amour followed by a final layer of dodo orange crush letting each layer cure first.

I imaging your beadage is now exceptional!

I have tried both of those waxes in the past and really liked them. The small pots are awesome. The durogloss 105 product has excellent reviews so I def will look into it further. I put a second coat of wax on today using the Dodo Juice Hard Candy. It went on well and removed easier.

Finally could swap my rear rotors and pads over after waiting a few months for the rear pads. I was frustrated with the rear A1RM pads when I got to installing them... only 1 of the 4 had the spreader spring holes! Argh. Drilled new holes and luckily issue solved.

My 3D printed stainless brake line mount is holding up really well after 5000km, very happy.

Toyo R888R tyres are wrapped and covered ready for the next event.

Roger, Wil and I hit the track on Saturday for the last sprint event for the year. The first session was very busy and had lots of congestion but the remaining sessions had more space to spread out. I was able to go 2 second faster when chasing Roger but also had my first ever spin out due to missing the braking point and overcooking the corner. More seat time is required to build up experience but that will have to wait for next year. Tyres are wrapped up and stored away.
