Nice photos Lumix. I like the way Craig dropped the engine, gearbox, transaxle, wheel hubs, brakes, exhaust & muffler out the bottom. Looks to be a much easier way to get it all out than to try to undo it all & lift it out through the top.

Did you & Craig do it all in 2 days?

It made it a lot easier and quicker to drop it all together. Craig had the motor out, work done and back in by late afternoon on the first day. Second day was connecting everything back up, all fluids, wheel balance/alignment and road test. Very happy with how the car is running :D!

2 days. Wow. Maybe I should make a trip north next year & get Craig to do all that on my baby too.

Second attempt was successful to install Hel Stainless Brake Lines to my car. The first attempt on Wednesday failed due to faulty front lines that wouldn't seat/seal to the hard line. We pulled the lines and went back to stock. Very disappointed. Called Hel the next day and they made me a new set up within a few hours to exchange. I installed the new lines today with zero leaks from the front lines...touch wood. Props to Hel for sorting out the lines straight away.
 
To mount the rear lines to the body I modelled and 3D printed a mount out of ABS plastic. Works an absolute treat. I will most likely make something out of metal in the future but this should work very well as a temporary solution.
 

 

 

Nice work on the stainless steel lines, just ordered a set from HEL myself. Will most cars need to have a mount fabricated for that rear line or were you just missing something?

You will need a mount for the rear. The bracket for the rear is actually built into the stock lines so it can't be used with the new stainless lines. The easiest way I can think of is to just use a piece of metal. Cut to length, drill two holes (8mm) 50mm apart and 4 more holes (3mm) to feed the zip ties under and round the line. I would use a rubber hose over the line to keep the hose off the mount by a few mm. Maybe two thick washes behind the mount where the bolts go through so the zip ties can feed behind the mount freely and not get crushed. Only one possible solution of many.

Did you mount the p-clamp in the stock location or new hole in the body? The P-Clamps I looked at were tiny!
