At Last a new Celica. This time it's electric and has an all-new Solid-State Battery. No risk of hydrogen gas catching fire, much lighter than the liquid-filled batteries. Toyota doing what it does best, innovation and engineering brilliance.

Is it official that this will be a production car?

I want a cheaper MR2 please. This looks like it’s in the Supra price realm or higher :(

Toyota sources confirmed a third performance model (to join the 86 & Supra) would be joining the line-up, that it would wear a Celica badge, and that it would be powered by future-facing technology. powered by SSB an EV for sure. No word on price but it could be near the Supra price range.
There is also a Lexus SSB electric sports car being tested but it would be in the LFA category, too expensive for general production and sales. I'll post a picture.

I love all the fun mock-ups and renders people have done over the years for a fourth gen MR2. But they all seem to miss the magic of the original 3 cars, which was using good quality, off the shelf, production parts to make a great quality sports car. Maybe the MR2 will be the third or fourth generation EV Toyota release.

The legendary Lexus LFA will be a difficult model to follow up, but Lexus says that this upcoming EV sports car will inherit the "secret sauce" from that V-10–powered supercar. That's a heady claim, but the preliminary performance numbers that Lexus has shared are impressive: it claims this model will get to 60 mph in the "low 2 second range" and that it will use solid-state batteries to provide a driving range of around 435 miles.
