Lately I've been having a look at some budget/ basic aero mods for track days. Things like basic splitters and GT wings etc.

I have purchased a spare bonnet and boot to make a hood vent (through from radiator) and mount a wing on (eventually). The aim is to be able to return the car to stock when not using it for track use

Interested to see what you guys have done and any feedback

Not sure, worst case scenario I will shroud off the back of the radiator and vent through the small section at the top of the radiator.

In NSW the justification for defecting cars with vented bonnets is that water can get into the engine bay. It'd depend on the mood of the officer I guess and if you did get fined its $89 to have it set aside by a magistrate. 

I think a bolt on full under-tray would be less invasive and more effective than wings and things. A decent front splitter would also help.
Even so, a spare set of front guards with vents in the top would help. Removing air from the rear arches would also help.
The vented front air dam does make it easier to drive too as long as you make ducting from the bumper to the exit of the bonnet or the air just goes everywhere else with only a percentage making to the exit.
I think the decider is the budget. All the above can cost a lot of money.
 

cheap one is a front spliter, some ply wood some bolts and anchor and a jigsaw and ur set under $100, cheap,

+1 for a decent front splitter and undertray. in that order.  as mentioned less noticable.  (well splitter may not be, but can be easily made as a removable item for after track day).
 
frunk vent isn't full perfect IMO with out a good splitter making sure all air is channeled/ducted through the frunk vent. (reminds me i gotta hurry up and do my splitter! haha)..
 
if you had spare bonnet and can be bothered swapping over after each meet it wouldn't be too hard to have the frunk vent bonnet and stock bonnet with a slide in sheet that seals the hole cut out behind the radiator, cops wouldn't even know.
 
lots of fun can be had with homemade aero ****e IMO, good way to learn by trying it yourself and see what works best.  
 
 
 

GT wings can be had for a reasonable price if you're happy to go with fibreglass and not too fussed about branding. Will still cost roughly $500 though for something with decent height and strong mounts.
 
I also have this front splitter available for $300 if interested. Was previously fitted to an SW20.
