Speedo intermittent in ST183 1991

My speedo works up to 70 or 80kph then drops to zero. Seems intermittent. Is there a fix? It is an automatic. The cruise control is also affected. I assume it is the transmission speed control. Where is it? I can't find it?

Try replacing the speed sensor which is located on the top of the gearbox. It should have a connector with 3 wires going to it.

Thanks Bud. It has an auto trans. and I can't find a speed sensor. I can see the inhibitor switch, kick down cable and a connector with wires which go inside trans?

Hey Bud the problem has escalated now. I disconected the battery to do a reboot. When reconnected the hazard lights operate for a few moments and the engine won't start. The sport and revs 2ws flash when ign on. I am in trouble!!

It should look like this. It may have an extender on it too.

I'm not sure about your new problem. It sounds like a different cause!
