Bought 17x8 & 17x9 Lenso D1R

I've ordered the above set and should receive them today. I've call around a few tyre shop and they all saying that 215/40 for the front and 245/40 for the rear won't fit? From what I've researched 215/40 for the front is perfect and people even go 255/40 for the rear. Can anyone confirm if this is ..
