1997 MR2 Bathurst Gearbox

Is anyone able to shed some light on the 5 speed box in the Bathurst please? I've been told they're the same as a V6 Camry or Supercharged Corolla. What code is the gearbox (s54 or E series etc.) and where can I find it on the gearbox? 3rd sometimes grinds and I've been quoted $4k to r..
