Absolutely. From what i can tell everything from the dump pipe backwards needs to be scrapped. Hopefully i can find an exhaust for it locally. Dudeman gave me a tip that RHD Japan are selling new fujitsubo exhausts for $900 delivered which is a whole lot cheaper that getting an exhaust shop to fabricate one.

I would prefer not to have a single exhaust as i prefer the look of the duel.....but im not really fussy at the moment. Any exhaust to pass the blue slip will suffice.

I've got a stock turbo back exhaust (currently being used by another member to clear a defect) that you can use for blueslip if you don't pick up something else in the meantime.
$900 delivered for a Fujitsubo sounds like a good deal, love mine.

Thanks, ill keep that in mind. The exhaust isn't a pressing matter at the moment. Can be sorted once the engine is in my engine bay. The turbo looks like it may be on its way out from the video of them starting it up since it was blowing some smoke. So that will be the first problem i will solve before the exhaust.

I am going to try and aim to have the engine out of the halfcut this weekend so ill have a better idea of what im dealing with.

Update:

The engine is now out of the half cut and is ready for basic part replacement e.g. Thermostat, timing belt, Hoses from Hell etc

The turbo clearly has a shot oil seal and the compressor wheel has minor left and right movement, but there doesn't seem to be any contact between the wheel and the housing. Hopefully just a seal rebuild.

Also had had my Walbro 255 come in the mail this week. I have also ordered a turbo back exhaust and i should be seeing that arrive from perth this coming week.

My 3" turbo back exhaust arrived today. Just need to work out where to add in a cat.

Also here a couple more photos of the condition of the turbo.

So in the last few weeks. Not a lot of progress has happened, mostly due to waiting for parts to arrive. Though a lot staring at wiring diagrams has been happening since i am re-pinning the NA body loom to suit the turbo as the turbos body loom has been cut.

Nonetheless the NA engine has been removed from my Sdub (hopefully for the last time), the fuel tank removed, drained/cleaned, the Walbro installed and then bolted back in. The second picture shows all the gunk that was in my fuel tank which may be the source of the fuel issues i have been having.

Whilst the fuel tank was removed the turbo shifter cables were installed. The turbo was removed from the new motor and upon learning the cost of a rebuild. I had to find a better condition turbo, which luckily wasnt too difficult with many thanks to a forum member who had a recently rebuilt/low km ct20b that i was able to get my hands on.

I have also given the IC a quick clean and have installed it into my car. (This was very exciting for the fact that it will soon be a proper MR2)

The turbo has now been installed back on the engine along with a new thermostat, water pump and timing belt.
My dump pipe as we speak is off at an exhaust shop having a cat installed into it. With any hope the engine should be ready to be put into the car this weekend and then the wiring begins.

On a separate note. I found this whilst changing out the shifter cables. It was sitting under the cables directly beneath the center console storage box. Does anyone know what this is related to or knows whether this is stock or not? I did a search on the part number but apparently it doesn't exist.

Nice project! reminds me of the days I was doing my Turbo conversion. if you can find a turbo body loom and fuse box from the same year it was just a case of plug and play for my turbo conversion wiring wise. The wiring loom will go all the way into the boot and attach to your lights I believe.

Will be sure to save you some time.

Really looking forward to seeing your progress. Its an awesome feeling when the motors in place.

It has been a lot of fun so far...except for the excitement of actually wanting to drive it.

It would be nice to find a complete body loom but nonetheless it doesnt seem too difficult to use the NA loom. The wires that are similar between the two just need to be re-pinned in the correct positions for ECU. Other than that from what i can tell the two white connecters in the fuse box should be plug and play and the EA1 connector is basically plug and play also save a couple of wires that are not similar between the two (probably not needed).

Cant explain how excited i am too see how different the car will be.

Good work!

Depending on the years of car/motor, you might need to do some re pinning in the rear fuse box connectors.

You will be amazed at the difference, it will be a different car.

Cheers
