ohh interesting! nah I haven't.  I didn't like the idea of the kind of piggybacks which modify the stock ECU values on the way through, I preferred the type that replace the signals - this does sound pretty good. not sure on pricing though -might just be easier to get a second hand powerfc or something old :P (or a megasquirt).

I have the stock IC - and stock piping, the car is essentially stock in the engine department except for a 3" dump pipe going into the stock exhaust, BOV and catch can.

I will inspect the piping after the turbo and see how dirty it is.  I've looked at the pre-turbo piping and it had a thick coating of sludge over it (yuck).  From what I've read it's best to remove the IC to clean it :)  new IC is going to set me back around $350 as a kit with piping.  I'm not sure if I need new piping tho. and not sure of what size piping I should opt for.

also my car doesn't have an o2 sensors in the exhaust... not sure if I should rectify that :P

Having the pod filer in the side vent is what I was reffering to as done properly. The apexi one doesn't point into the side vent do its going to draw some hot air. Arc box is good and probably the best way to do it. When I still had my afm I had the pod filter all the way near the side intake any sir coming through that intake would have to pass through the pod infact the side intake shroud is designed in such a way that it deflects air upwsrds so it goes straight to the pod filter if you have one there. I had a custom intake pipe which pushed the pod filter as close as possible to the side vent.

With the induction noise I dont know what your on about. With my afm on I could hear my pod filter sucking in air when the car was idling on cold start mode. While driving it was louder. Now I dont have a afm so its much louder

Getting an aftermarket ecu to fix a boost cut is a silly idea. But I'm sure it's just an excuse to go aftermarket ecu lol
Why dint you use the resistor trick to get rid of boost cut. I had a spare gen 3 map sensor which I was going to use in my pfc conversion so I used that as atemporary solution to fix my problem.

I would change intercooler if your still running the stock one.it's a pita job though.

Cheers

It is good. Does it all, one box. Feature wise it eats the PowerFC. Not expensive, $695 USD for the kit, 5 wires to tap into to install, that's it. Tuning via USB cable. Also, the PFC doesn't have direct knock control either, only displays a knock value which IMHO is a major issue.
Anyway if you want to know more there have been threads on it.
MuMan and cogs on here happily run them (me soon hopefully!). http://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/tm.aspx?&m=52149&mpage=1

You will need new piping mate with an aftermarket IC, the stock stuff wont fit (too small). With piping though, be careful as the cheap ebay stuff is no good and wont fit properly (I've tried). Try to find a well known brand like Greddy or something.

Get that o2 sensor fixed, I did and get about 11l/100kms in traffic with a heavy right foot :P

nice :) yeah I'm a little unsure what direction I'll go - custom intake might be the way to go esp if I remove the AFM because of ECU.

I have built the kit for the sensor to adjust the pressure it reports to the ecu.  But before I fitted it, I removed the line that goes to the sensor and plugged it, but still got fuel cut, with the manifold pressure ECU error code, so the source is somewhere else - not the sensor.  Plus it's quite hard to find information on what else it could be.  Some have said it's the knock sensor, but then it wouldn't throw the pressure code I would have thought.  (yes it's also partially an excuse to go aftermarket too. tho ;) )

thinking about it now - maybe it's a defective sensor....

ok cool - that's two votes for a new IC :P 2.25" 2.5" 3" so many choices in piping size.

excellent - will do - (I need to find where it is supposed to go - I think it was taken out because the Nforce exhaust the car has on, has screw in bungs. From what I can see the stock mr2 one isn't screw in?

It goes on to your down-pipe. Is yours aftermarket? (eg. Berk)
Mine (Berk) just has two bolts to hold the O2 flange to the DP. Stock DP has studs i think.

yeah the dump is an nforce branded dump.

I think the reason the prev owner didn't put it in was because he didn't want to buy a screw in o2 sensor.  I have a sensor hanging in the engine bay near the exhaust - I'm assuming that's going to be my o2 sensor :P
BTW any brands of ic pipping / ic's I should avoid?

and there are three sizes of piping /ic kits on ebay - 2.25, 2.5 and 3" kits... suggestions?
