i've cleaned the intake piping, and checked the hot side piping (which actually isn't too bad) there is a slight oily coating but nothing major like the pic i posted.  In fact a lot of the crap on the pic had gone when i pulled off the piping :)  (obviously pulled through the engine).

Im going to hold off getting an IC - the catch can should save a lot of the oil going through the turbo, and into the IC.  I still might try some sea foam in the hot side, but i think it's actually ok :)

it's been a day and something new has gone wrong :P

my hornet alarm keyfob that came with the car broke where it attaches to the keyring.  ATM I'm looking at options, since it's my only keyfob, I'm thinking of getting a replacement housing and a replacement keyfob.  But in all honestly a whole new alarm (same model) is $99 delivered :p

Will see how expensive a replacement housing (and second keyfob) costs first.

that being said, I'd love to get a 2 way system with remote start and window closer.  Not sure if I can justify the cost / time to install it.

oh man....

I'm really excited about this:

you CAN get clear side marker replacements, to replace the toblerones!
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1991-1995-TOYOTA-MR2-SW20-CLEAR-SIDE-MARKER-LIGHTS-JDM-/300630677065?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item45fefc1649#ht_5481wt_905

I'm strongly thinking of painting the strips white from black, and with the clear sides, will give it quite a good look.  This would be easier than drilling holes in the front quarters and putting a clear side indicator there (which I do have spares from my supra).

I don't have a good history with painting parts, and am slightly concerned how badly I could stuff up the side rubber bits :P

I like the orange toblerones. Still gotta leave some 'JDM' orange on it ;)
mind you they do look cleaner with clear front indicators/parkers.

DO paint those black side strips please! I think the two tone look stands out the worst on white SW20s and makes the car look 80s and ****e.
Mine was already colour coded when bought it (white) :D

If you aren't confident just get someone to do it, wouldn't cost that much. OR get the paint code and make sure you prime the sides properly over the black first, otherwise it wont match and look bad.

I believe the toblerones vary between JDM and USDM, they have different lengths, so would be wise to check when buying to make sure the are the right ones.

Cheers

ok I'll look into that :)

next car purchases are planned.

and this was announced today: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/AppRadio/AppRadio+2+(SPH-DA100)
i'll be getting that when it comes out :) $499 usd! that's pretty darn good! (I also checked that the usa use the same FM frequency range as us - didn't check AM - I don't listen to it :P)  If the existing appradio was a 7" touchscreen instead of a 6" then I'd get that now, they can be had on ebay for $311 plus shipping!

purchased an ebay Intercooler today, with piping kit, AEM Wideband gauge and bosch sensor.  Will be picking up the Microtech and accessories this week, and hopefully will get a intercooler shroud and blockoff plate.

Now with regards to the Davies Craig fans - I'm not sure if I need to get the full kit or just the short fan.. does anyone know?

I still need to get an Autometer dual pillar gauge pod. (since I'm getting a wideband, I'm going to need to mount both).  I've considered mounting them on the dash itself in the middle, I'm still not sure yet.. Need to check out pricing. so many purchases! lol.

The only thing that's left is intake - when the AFM is removed :) but other than that - nothing until the new stereo is released :)

Nice work mate, you wont regret getting a new IC, especially when you wind up the booost ;)
And again, I got the Davies craig thermatic fan kit.
