So, I have a 3sgte I'm rebuilding. I also have a 3sge inside another car sitting here and looks like it should donate it's parts.

The 3sgte cooling bypass tree is not so good. I could buy another but wondering if I use the 3sge water pump and tree, will there be any downside? I can't see any other than getting rid of that annoying cooler piping the 3sgte has and using the better 3sge piping?

Would love to hear some thoughts.

P.s I always thought the 3sge didn't have a cooler but this one does for anyone going to make that comment.

Oil cooler attachment to block is different as is the oil cooler itself. Coolant flow path is different between generations. Which gen are your two engines ?  Oil flow path and filter etc needs to be thought out if trying to mix gens.
Can't remember but I think the water pump runs at a different speed between gens therefore different timing belt etc required.

Ah, that's good to know. The attachment looked similar but I'm yet to rip it out. I believe they're both gen 2 but the other one might be a gen 3 being a late 91.

Deffinately the water flow path is different and that is fine as I'll use the coolant tree but I thought only the oil pump was different. Perhaps I will take a look at the two pump pulleys.

Water pumps the same, just the housing is different. Gte has port for oil warmer, wheres NA doesnt as both coolant feeds comes of the coolant bypass pipes. Its oil squirters the ge doesnt typically have, but thats only jdm variants, the adm ones Ive seen do, as well as hyd belt tensioner rather than spring.
