Hi all,
I'm a new comer to not only this forum but to this great community of mr2s
My story begins with a 1994 red sw20 turbo coup imported in 1998 and this car came into my direct family through a cousin. Now as of 2018 my father, brother and I are wanting to put this little beast back on the road as a weekend warrior. It was driving fine when it was put into "storage". Its got 173xxx kms on it and the only mods include a set of pedders adjustable coilovers and a greddy turbo timer set on 1min.

I've been scouring the web for more info on these cars but I'd rather get the info straight from the horses mouth as I getting mixed between the USDM and JDM market cars. I'd love some more info on my jap spec '94 model ie stock boost pressures, factory options (having trouble decoding the vin), what wheels are on it, common issues, best oil and plug options. Now the car does need a complete respray and a wheel refurb. I am aware of the snap oversteer with the sw20 model and the '93 suspension revision and the 250hp 3s-gte fitted on post '93 turbo models

I'm not new to cars or forums as I've restored a Mercedes 300TE recently, so I don't have to be treated as a new newbie.

Thank you in advance. and yes the state of the paint is shocking but the results will look much better

Hi Ali,
Welcome to the forum.
Looks like you've got a great project there. Hardtops are getting pretty rare i believe.
I can't help much with info as i'm no expert, but there's plenty of guys here on the forum that are very knowledgeable and helpful. They're a great bunch of people!
I'm already looking forward to seeing the updates and progress on your car.
Once you get it sorted you should join us at the Wakefield Park Challenge (either as a competitor or spectator). It's a great social event as well as being a great track experience.
There's also Nationals every 2 years (next one is in 2019 i believe) which is also a great event.

Cheers
Rick

Great project, welcome to the start :)
As you could imagine due to the age of the vehicle there are common things that need attention to bring to like new condition, bushings, fuel pump, shift linkages, fluids and general service items, as well as ever so often been enticed to upgrade upgrade upgrade parts.
You will come to know amayama, or megazip, or primedriven, or ATS, or KO racing, or Hux, or Twosrus, or WTF auto, or your local auto store :) for 3sgte parts and/or specialists knowledge :)
Forum, lots of passionate people with different experiences, hopefully helping make your journey easier.

There will be pictures along the way so you won’t miss out!!

My plan is to keep this nice, clean example and keeping it mostly stock. A stainless steel exhaust, bov but that’s the only real deviation from the jdm stock other than keeping up the usual maintenance parts.

You should probably know then that was written about SW's by some motor reviewer who didn't understand how to drive a mid-engined car. Some people are of the opinion that Toyota had to dumb the car down rev3 onwards for drivers who preferred training wheels.
