I have a brand new V8 archie ls* adaptor kit. (www.v8archie.com).This kit was originally designed to fit the chev v8 into the pontiac fiero. It was later updated to suit the Alloy Ls* generation of v8's & the Pontiac f40 6 speed gearbox (this kit)

All items are brand new &have not even been fitted up. Kit consists of the following:
Pontiac f40 6 speed gearbox
Billet alloy adaptor ring
Starter motor & billet adaptor
Alloy flywheel, adaptor & heavy duty clutch
1/2 shaft with Ls* mounting
Pontiac Lh & Rh driveshafts

This kit will mount any Ls* generation of Chev v8 to the gearbox, allowing transverse (ie fwd type) fitment of the motor assembly into a "midi" or mr2 / pontiac fiero / corolla? etc

Quaife makes an lsd to suit this gearbox

Kit was $Us5000, excluding the driveshafts & shipping (over $Au6,800 landed)

Was originally bought for a sw20 mr2 conversion that fell over

Looking at offers around the $5,000 mark

Pickup SE suburbs of Vic (Seaford) or can strap to a pallet & deliver to Dandenong E-Go depo

What size motor is the Chev V8 that this was designed to use?

This will fit any of the LS series of chev v8 (alloy block) ls1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 9

The smallest is the ls4 (I think) at 5.4l,
Common Ls motors in Aus is:
ls1 - 5.7l
ls2 - 6.0l
ls3 - 6.2l

some of these motors now have different names - L77, L98 etc as well

That's a lot of motor. I looked at getting my 2 engineered for a V6, pretty sure the certifier told me that NSW RTA limit of capacity for an mr2 conversion was 4 litre. Other states may differ.

Certainly not without cutting the chassis and firewalls.

Sorry kameleon - how do you figure that it won't fit into a sw20?

A lS2 is dimensionally smaller than a 2grfe everywhere except length - & thats just due to the stupid chev waterpump arrangement. fitting a electric water pump solves that.

I have followed every V8 SW20 online over the years (well over 10 years now) and have watched the varying success, even thought up some of my own using cut down BMW drivelines. Even using the shortest front wheel drive version of the LS engine it still will not fit without major cuts. Cuts the engineer friend (who engineered the engine swap i did into my other car) i spoke to about this said he would not pass due to the SW20's small rails in this area of the vehicle.

Not trying to wreck your sale, just something i know enough about to comment on.

Unless you can provide detailed photos of an LSx motor and the rest of this package swinging in an SW20 engine bay, no one is going to take a $5k punt on something that is most likely not going to work.

There are plenty of SW20's laying around in VIC with no motors in them :D Borrow one for the day and drop the package in. If it fits and all the drive shafts line up, you've got solid evidence that this is the "Worlds first non-cut n shut V8 conversion kit". Which I'm sure Paul Woods would pay handsomely for....

knightrous,
I don't happen to have access to an engineless sw20 (do you?) Neither do i happen to have a ls motor. All i had to work off was the dimensions of a ls2 motor, & working on the fact that a 2gr fitted (which i have here) I figured that it should fit. End result is that it's not my kit, I'm just trying to sell it off to recoup $$. I'm not going to invest days in trial fitting a motor setup just to provide pics.  Not unless someone is going to pay for my time...
