Well... this project started on next to no budget, I purchased the car for $100 as seen in below picture, pretty well just rolling shell, missing alot of parts.

It was at the end its life, & ready for the wreckers until I picked it up.
So my ownly option was to track this little car & give it a new life, unfortunately only a track one.

Progress started: picking it up.

Got it home... love having my own car trailer.

Interior was a disgrace... & missing a lot of parts.

Engine bay was missing something ???

Got it up ready for its new heartbeat.

Source a 4age 16v smallport from a 1993 corolla seca. (fitted some genni extractors).

After freshing up the engine / replacing a few little components, lifted car ready for the engine.

Engine in, waiting for some more parts, eg.. engine mounts - hence the wood bracing.

Updates to come....

Some more updates...

Started on the front end, removed the white guard.

Was cheaper to carbon wrap as aposed to painting...

Sourced a front bar & other bits.

More carbon wrapping, white fuel lid, smurf blue rear bar, white boot lid etc..

Relocated the battery to allow some more room in the engine bay.

Stripped & cleaned out interior & fitted a nice wheel & short shift kit.

Made some custom door trims, still kept the electric windows though.

Fitted a pair of seats & harnesses.

More to come!!

This is how it sat just before MTC 2015.

Its first apearance at Wakefield park (MTC 2015).  also fitted some 17' mini cooper S wheels & Fedral 595 RSRs.

After Steve (B24) drove it, & recommended to fit an oil cooler.  (fitted when I got home).

More to come...

Great find! How did you fit the harness? By drilling through the firewall while the engine was out?

Got a harness lying around but haven't made up my mind on how to fit it just yet.

No fitted whilst engine was in. Just used existing hole behind head rest, but had to us a really long bolt thru firewall & locked it off with a nut.

Small update:

After fitting up the Oil cooler & installing an Oil Temp gauge..  It ran all day out at Mallala race way, oil temp sitting on 120deg, does anyone know if that is too hot or ok?

Interior before the gauge install.. (far Right dash Air vent)

Oil Temp gauge installed.. (Also fixed a permenant phone holder for when I am using 'RaceChrono' on the track)

Where is the oil temp sensor mounted? 120c is kind of the limit before most oils start to completely break down. You really want it to get it in the 105-110 region. Maybe bend up a sheet of aluminum to duct air through the oil cooler and pick it up a bit from under the car.
