Don't worry about it. Its a blessing in disguise. Perfect reason to strip it down, balance the rotating assembly, new rings and decent bearings, spend a few 100 on servicing the head so you can get the power figure back to something close the original factory output.

I'd love to, but doing timing belt, tensioners, water pump, thermostats, spark plugs, filters, oil and clutch will kill my budget atm. I'll do a full rebuild in a year or so once my bank recovers lol. I only bought the car in February and still want to do wheels and tyres sometime in the near future. I'm still negotiating compensation with the seller atm.

That's what the seller should be covering you for. You wouldn't need to do any of that if the advertised milage was correct.
 
Someone suggested you get 50% of the cost returned to you - i'd say that should be the minimum to accept.
 
If they don't like that well they can refund the lot, and wear the freight cost to and from. The milage was three times than what they sold you the engine as having travelled. So 3x milage should equal 1/3 of price. Ebay will smoke them, its fraud what they did to you. 
 
Consider how often they may pull this caper and get away with it. "We only do it for our interest" That's an insult to your intelligence.  

Agree with dudeman. It cost me 2k to get my 200,000km service done and my car is only a gen 2 and that was through a friend's workshop who was doing it for cheap.

How did this end up? I've heard of people negotiating with those 'rich foreign princes who need X amount of dollars to release their gold bullion' after they have given them that X amount - I haven't heard that they had much success without intervention from the authorities.
 
Strangely enough there's another beams engine for sale in HK through ebay with around the same milage once again...

I got US$500 back from them. I had noticed that they had another one, but they're asking heaps more than i paid for mine (maybe they're trying to make up for my refund lol). They blamed the japanese company that sold them the car for the misleading odometer. I was lucky to get a refund from them as Ebay and Paypal wouldn't help me as it was over 90 days from purchase when i made a complaint. Its not their problem that it took that long to get it shipped to me :(

Great to hear they refunded some $$$. When you finally get to drive the car with the engine in and all the servicing done, I suspect you'll probably just forget about the hassles. I've had mine in my Bathurst for over three years now and I enjoy it more and more all the time. The Red Top really is a great engine! I'm generally getting fuel consumption figures around 8L/100km on sporty country drives, it sounds fantastic, I love the way it delivers the power, the extra torque is awesome… It's just all round good fun.

Looking at those engine half-cut listings, the mileage on nearly all of them suspiciously hovers around the 50k mark.
I'd say they're almost all clocked back. (1XX,000 down to 0XX,000)
And who knows - maybe it is the upstream seller in Japan that's doing it, and these guys you purchased it off aren't entirely to blame.
Anyway - 150,000kms is still reasonable, a major service and it'll be awesome for years.

I had a friend make a bracket from aluminium that uses existing bolts, so i didn't have to drill any holes.
With the covers on, you wouldn't even know it's there.....
Other than the head unit, all the speakers and cabling are totally concealed, so the car still looks totally original.
I know many people don't like adding audio systems because of the extra weight, but with 800km drives to Adelaide, or 400kms to the nearest major town i kinda need good sound lol.
