Oh as of course I forgot it has a brand new walbro fuel pump

165kw on a stock gen2 is complete bs. They only had that at the flywheel new anyway.
Factor in however old the engine is and loss of compression etc and drivetrain loss even raisong the boist the stock ct26 just wont do it with stock everything.

I got 215rwhp with a hiflowed ct26 and 15psi, upgraded intercooler and old 3in exh (couldnt be worse than stock.)

Also, walbron and injs wont make power, they just supply the extra required fuel for however you managed to get more air into your engine.

The gen3 540 injs are good for 300-350rwhp .

I asked the previous owner and this is what he said. I mean unless the dyno he went on was way off I would say its true

"Exhaust as it is. Intake. Had the stock intercooler and ct26. Now ud have fuel system...ct20b...uprated side mount and a tune. I don't know what boost i made 170kw on tho as didn't have a boost controller."

"disney" dyno imho.

so basically disregard that dyno power figure.

have a look around, but 170-180kw is what most get when pushing on an old stock unopened gen2 with hiflow/ct20b's, greddy IC's and 3in exhuasts. with ecu maybe you'd push a little more, but to get 200rwkw you'd need to run 18-20psi which i wouldn't recommend on an unopened old gen2.

also, dyno's can vary on themselves even without fudged readings.

also, if you don't have a dedicated fan for the intercooler running like the one they put for your radiator the intercooler will heat soak very quickly and drastically reduce whatever power you make.

you can do what i did, got one of those pump weed killer bottles from bunnings, fill it with distilled water, and when they go to do a power run on the dyno have your IC fan running(the one in the engbay) and spray a fine mist over the IC (making sure not to overspray and wet the dyno rollers etc)

you'll get a more accurate performance figure to what you will get on the road when having constant airflow over the IC.

sorry, when taling about dedicated fan i was meaning at the dyno. they stick a fan infront of your rad, works fine for cars with FMIC's but mr2's need to have a fresh air source for the intercooler as well, like they would on the open road, not cooped up in a dyno garage.

if getting ~170 rwkW with just an exhaust, dp, IC and CT20b on an unopened gen2, with the stock ECU has been done before
then with proper AFR tuning and ignition (MAP ECU or otherwise), 200 rwkw should be easily attainable barring the fuel system can support it. We all know how horridly rich the stock tune is.

~170....ok... but 225 isn't gonna come up by accident or good fortune.

on a fresh, bored, gen 2 with spearco intercooler ct26, single JDM cat, 14psi, apexi intake and corrected fuelling i used to get 151rwkw..... the ct20b should get a bit more cause of the top end capability, but it's not gonna make 225... unless you put it on a dynojet or mustang dyno something...

get it done on a dyno dynamics in shootout mode with a fan on the intercooler if you really want to know your numbers. big numbers get hard to achieve with the stock turbos cause they arent big enough to flow a LOT of air, and they get out of their efficiency range and blow hot air when pushed... which cause o the intercooling/air flow limitations on the mr2 makes a big difference.

Power steering at straight ahead uses maybe 3-8amps.
Power steering at full lock 30amp or more  (uses 80A ABS fuse)
You car is dying with full lock, i call that a major problem!
Also cranking the car twice to get fuel pressure up, that also a problem that the tuner should fix, sounds like fuel pump isnt coming on with IGN.

Take it back, get it fixed, they did a rubbish job.

with ringing the neck off said turbos. he's only running 14psi atm so with 14psi then there's no way it's currently 225kw.

with 14psi and good tune and said mods, then 225hp/160-170kw sounds ok-ish for gen2. but don't forget the slight variance of dyno's and methods for doing the final power run and dyno setup with regards to air flow.

stock gen2 cams and timing really suffocate the motor.
