Track_mr2 could you tell by natsoft that there really wasnt traffic in our split regularity session? Didnt think so. I won by not caring about the regularity and chasing a EVO around the track. Go figure?

Maybe you should come yourself and then comment with more knowledge of the event itself.

As mentioned it was told to everyone and its not like the fast guys did not want to win they just nominated incorrect times.

For reference my fastest time was 1:12.54 and the EVO i was following and up the arse of (not the straights obviously) ran a 1:10.9

If someone feels my mid top ten finishes in all events and winning the regularity was unfair send me your address and i will send you the plaque ;)

Maybe from now we could share more positive comments, videos and pictures. Or is this just going to be a constant bitch session?

I dont think anyone is attacking you personally about winning the regularity nor cares if you won or whomever won that event. The times I was talking about on NATSOFT for the sprints have Admin lapping 3 seconds or so faster then you per lap in the sprints. That reflects him as being quiet fast and among the top 3 MR2/driver combinations on the day and he did well in all the times listed on NATSOFT from what I see. However because he stuffed up in the regularity he is completely out of every, basically one event outweights all others.
The point that is being made is that the weightings of the regularity ruined Admins standing for the whole event (and boosted your standings higher mind you). Not that its anything but a first world issue but maybe something that can be looked at for the next event. Personally I've never met Admin nor even know his name so its nothing personal to me, I'm just making an observation and its not an attack on you. If I turned up to event and came last I wouldn't care, don't have anything to prove champ......

I dont care who won either but it should be a fair system and if one event counts for more than others , that is wrong and just not fair.

I propose that the following be considered for next year's event. Comments?

Classes
  • Non-MR2 entrants are in the outright class only. This includes “MR2-like” vehicles. If the body isn’t at least 80% MR2, then it is not an MR2.
  • MR2 entrants will be distributed across the various classes such as circuit, modified street, street etc. MR2 entrants are also in the outright class. Exact classes and rules will be finalised and published prior to the event.
  • There are no classes in regularity events. All regularity results are outright only.
Points
  • Outright winners of each session including regularity receive 5 points. 2nd place outright receives 3 points. 3rd outright receives 1 point. All other placings receive 0 points.
  • Winners of each session in each class (regularity excluded) will receive 5 points. 2nd place in each class receives 3 points and 3rd in each class receives 1 point. All other placings receive 0 points.
    • All timed sessions including regularity are scored equally. As an example, if an entrant wins time attack session 1, they will receive 5 points. If they win regularity, they will receive another 5 points.
  • If an MR2 entrant places in the top 3 outright in a non-regularity timed session, they will receive points for their outright placing IN ADDITION to their class position points. Note that this may provide an advantage to MR2 entrants over invitational entrants in regard to the total overall score for the whole event. It should be discussed whether we want to do this or not. If implemented, it will somewhat protect the event from being dominated by modern track weapons such as EVOs. After all, it is a MR2 track day.
  • Total event points for each entrant is the sum of all points from all sessions.
  • If the entrant does not compete in a session, they will not receive any points for that session.
Regularity scoring
  • Entrants nominate their desired time
  • For each 10th of a second slower than the desired time per lap, 1 regularity point is earned
  • For each 10th of a second faster than the desired time per lap, 2 regularity points are earned
  • To place in regularity, ALL nominated laps must be completed
  • The winner of regularity is the entrant that accumulates the least number of regularity points
  • 2nd place is the next smallest number of regularity points and 3rd place the third.
  • Classes are irrelevant in regularity
  • The regularity winner receives 5 points towards their overall event point score, second place receives 3 points and third place, 1 point.
    • These points should not be confused with regularity points
Trophies
Trophies will be awarded for the following;
  • The fastest lap time outright on the full circuit out of any of the full circuit sessions. There is no 2nd or 3rd place for this.
  • Regularity 1st, 2nd and 3rd place
  • Single lap shootout 1st, 2nd and 3rd place outright
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for each class via an amalgamation of points from all sessions. This includes points scored in regularity if applicable.
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd place outright via an amalgamation of points from all sessions. This includes points scored in regularity if applicable.
  • Best attitude and/or most improved award. The winner is chosen by event organisers based on the entrant’s attitude, improvement and any other factor that may be relevant at the time to the organiser’s discretion.
    • The Best attitude and/or most improved award cannot be awarded to an entrant that has already won a trophy.

Hello everyone,
I have finally decided to sit down in front of a computer to have my say on the MTC 2014.
First of all, I must thank all the people who called and sent messages in support of the event. Knightrous is to be congratulated on the development of the website. There will be more improvements in 2014.

Can I also say thank you for all the kind words of support to all the people who attended MTC 2014. It was great to see a few spectators on the Monday.

The event was designed for more than one reason. Friendships, laughs, stimulating conversations, appreciation of works performed on our cars, the hidden art of driving as smooth and quick as possible certainly come to mind. There is no doubt everyone has come away with a new experience and something to work on in anticipation of 2015. For some, its a life changing experience, thrill rides that match a roller coaster, a bug would have set into a few people which will draw them to the track instead of the street.
Then there is the competition aspect of the event. I do not believe comments of not caring where people finish or the likes as there are many comments on the last few pages which say otherwise. In one way or another we are all competitive individuals, end of story. To create heated debate which shows a persons character is also an interesting game to watch. The six rounds of competition available a MTC provides a lot of scope for friendly banter, strategy, tact , patience, emotion and more. From a organizers point of view its a complete win win.
Regularity: So much heated debate! With comments of what is fair and what is not with the regularity round what is unfair. A modern 4wd with skilled drivers competing against 20yr old MR and RWD cars could also be considered unfair by people. Its a game leveler so everyone competing has an equal chance of winning the round or more. This is what happened and some didn't like it. I am sorry, but that's racing.
The regularity is there to provide a curve ball, increase the value of consistency but more importantly to expose people to the final discipline before door to door circuit racing. As people have discovered, its not that easy but the goal (from the promoters point of view) was achieved.
When we had the meeting before the regularity round the target time was taken from the drivers quickest lap plus two seconds. This was then confirmed by the drivers and adjusted if they wished. With some simple math, 2 seconds from 10 corners is 2 tenths per corner/ changing 500rpm earlier or carrying a higher gear from the Hillclimb straight to the back straight, while still carrying your braking points and corner speed. Really not that hard but due to experience, it turned out to be a challenge for some but a completely expected result. Something I am quite happy with. May change the name to the 'chilli burger round' as it certainly has people jumping out of their chairs.
So the regularity will stay and people will learn this new discipline to increase their chances in 2015. I have no doubt this will be the case.
My complaint: Can people please keep the cabins clean, help clean up after dinner so I am not doing it at 1am, close your garages at the end of the day and read the regs! lol.

Thanks again for believing in the event and making it what it is and hope to everyone in 2015.

Thanks again Steve for organising the event. Great effort and a great result.
Nobody is saying that the regularity event is unfair. It is perfectly fair and I would love to give it another crack next year and hopefully improve on my 16th position!
The issue is around how the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for the overall MTC were calculated, not the results for the regularity event itself.
Travis clearly won regularity and a great effort too!
The results from the regularity event are however skewing the overall placings due to the regularity results being worth more than the results from the other sessions. Please see my suggested scoring system for next year where time attack and regularity scores contribute equally to the overall MTC placings.
Thanks again.
