I just got back to Sydney after an amazing 2 days of fun!
I didn't get any footage myself, but I'm really itching to see everyone else's footage.
There was some amazing driving going on, and it was fantastic to be there to witness so many MR2s being driven so fast and so skillfully. I really enjoyed being a passenger on a few occasions, with drivers who had plenty of trackday experience.
I participated in most of the events, enough to keep me very entertained, and I was pleasently surprised that my car had almost no problems, even without turning the boost down at all. There is only one minor problem which is a very slow and harmless oil leak from somewhere, and I think it may have existed beforehand and I didn't realise. I'll have to look into that, but everything else is totally intact. I also noticed that my oil catch can (which has a level sight on the side) went from empty to half full in the 2 days, and that's the first time I've ever seen oil in there. Probably nothing to worry about, just something I randomly noticed.
I was also very happy with how my A2W intercooler setup performed. Each time I returned to the pits after hot laps and one cool down lap, I would touch the A2W core just to see how it felt, and I was amazed to find that it was normally very cool to the touch, even when surrounded by all the other hot parts in the engine bay.
With my lack of trackday experience my laptimes were much slower than what my car is capable of, but I'm still reasonably happy with my laptimes when I consider that I'm a total beginner, and I only had normal road tyres unlike a majority of the guys who at least had semi slicks.
During the passenger sessions with the experienced guys, I was pleased to see that I had been taking most of the correct lines, but I simply wasn't as fearless or on-the-limit as they were. Of course that all comes with experience!
Thanks to Steve and everyone else who made the event possible.
