Sometimes when I stop at traffic lights or anywhere heaps of dark grey smoke comes from my exhaust, then when I drive off it will blow a little bit of light grey smoke for a few seconds and then stop. It doesn't have an oil leak but it has used 2.5 litres of oil in the last 2500 kms. I filled it up today, and that's when I have noticed the smoke again. Anyone got any ideas? Blown head gasket? It's a gen 2 3SGTE.

Could be valve stem seals, or turbo oil seal. Do you have oil in the turbo intake or any in the intercooler pipies?

Do you get smoke on start up?

No smoke on start up. I did once see a drop of oil below the turbo. Intercooler and intake piping is a bit greasy, but nothing bad though. It doesn't happen very often though (unless i don't notice) so I don't know what sets it off.

Did u check the inside of the piping?

Okay, now I just put my hand underneath the turbo and there is a fair bit of oil there.. More then the drop which I seen, so it must be a problem that has just gotten worse.

Although I did see oil at the bottom of the turbo before I installed it, just not as much. Had a Saas pod before.

2.5l in 2500 kms is a ****load! something isn't right... I'd put my money on your rings being dead

It drives good though, and doesn't blow smoke at high revs. There is a lot of oil below the turbo, but 1ml of per 10km is heaps.

My partners car had dead rings and it blew heaps in low Rpms but none at hi revs once replaced yet were good
