This is how I see things panning out if you sell the MR2:
- You'll see an SW20 turbo on the road that spanks your 86 silly
- You'll miss it & search for another oneday & lose money in the process OR waste a chunk of time daydreaming about it
- You'll spend some silly amount of money modifying the 86 to be nearly as fast as the MR2 (alternative)
- You'll sell the 86 in favour of a faster car that is once again, a LOT of money, putting your financial situation back 5 years.
I've owned my fair share of "fun" cars. I got in on the WRX late 90's/early 2K bandwagon, low volume import bliss, FWD confusion etc etc & I tell you now, there is nothing like my SW20. From the glorious 90's era of Japanese turbocharged 2L milk displacement engines. Extremely desirable when new. Beautiful looks. In some cases very respectable power. Will hold its own on the road. Entertaining handling which in true "performance car" fashion, requires both skill & respect.
As some would remember, I even came close to selling my MR2 a few times in favour of an FD RX7, but even then, I could foresee myself eventually missing the Deuce & seeking out another.
I'm sure a few people would happily see you sell up, but I'm in a good mood right now. I spend the past few weeks daily driving a 220awkw TME. Absolutely excellent car, but when I got back into my MR2, I was honestly happier.
