I recently lost the saved settings that I had saved (That's what I get for saving the settings in notes in my iPhone)
From memory the front are 14 notches from soft and the rear are 20 notches from soft, I did originally set them to 10 and 16 but found the car would bounce slightly as though the shocks were not controlling the springs enough.

Hi all, looking at replacing standard suspension on a 1990 SW20 turbo import.
it seems the comments re the BC BR series are universally positive, and have plenty of adjustment.
Can I ask those who have these...are you using stock swaybars ? if not, why did you change ? (expressed in terms of under/oversteer or inner wheel lift or the rear letting go). I imagine that it would be very common for people to stiffen up the bars, just because so many people rave about the benefit of stiffer bars but they don't mention their springs are soft or stuffed. I expect correct springing leaves much less for the bars to correct ??(comment?) and that good springs (eg new BC coilovers 5/8 springing) may be fine with stock bars ?? perhaps ???
Oh, my desire is not for track, although it seems these coilovers can be adjusted for a track day.
Just want to optimise for NSW roads, police chases, etc    :o)  not really I'm 59 yrs old, those days are long gone.

Hey guys, I'm a bit interested in these coilovers as they seem to be fairly adjustable. I'm fairly certain that my 95 bathurst has the original shocks and springs in it as even though I have changed to 16" rims, the ride is pretty harsh. I am a little in two minds about lowering my car as I use it as a daily driver, and I get enough problems scraping the lip as it is! Yet at the same time, I'd love to lower it a little to get those wheels to fill out the arches a little better. I am very happy with the performance of the handling and don't mind if that doesn't change, but I really don't want the ride to be any harsher. Is it possible to get around an inch of lowering (legally) with these shocks, while still keeping the same feeling?
Does anyone have these who lives around Vic? I'd love to come try them out. My MR2 is the only one i have ever been in, so i don't have anything to compare my car to...

Oh yeah, and where is the cheapest place you guys have found these? I have seen them on ebay for around $1,200...

I'm surprised you say the standard suspension gives a harsh ride (too firm).
Perhaps Toyota changed the springs between 1990 and 95, but in mine they are way too soft.
One of the nice things about these BC coilovers (I believe) is that you can adjust ride height independently from the spring travel. So should suit your need in that regard.

But this may be due to the fact that they're 20 years old (can't confirm as I've never been in another MR2). Or perhaps the owner before me has fiddled with the suspension...

Anything to report on the longevity of these?

They're cheap enough I'm thinking about them for my DD.

I have been running these in my MR2 since February and am very happy with them. I drive the car regularly but one thing I will say is that with the standard BC spring rate they are very very firm, depending on what size and weight rims you are running it may be worth ordering them with a custom spring rate slightly softer then the factory spring rate they come with.
I am still considering getting a second set of springs at a softer rate to put into mine except I just wonder if the softer spring rate would offer enough rebound response with the 18x10" rims I am running.

Thanks Nik,  for your last couple of posts, which confirm my suspicion about the BC spring rates 5&8 being too stiff for road use. I have been reviewing other spring rates (xls attachment from another thread on this forum) and none of them are anywhere near 5 & 8 Kg/mm.  Stock are 2.3 and 3.75, and the 6 aftermarkets which vary significantly but average around 145% of the stock values.
I spoke to the BC dealer in Sydney and he said I can order them with different springs at no extra cost, so have to decided to 4/7 kg.

Once you have them in and have had some time with them on the road I would love to hear your opinion on those spring rates.
