Any chance you can capture some video footage of the car roll racing? Would love to see it.

Hopefully there'll be some mates there to film some races.
I might use my GoPro inside too.

The roll racing got postponed to last night due to rain last week. Here's a video from last night's elimination race against the 'EVL02J' Supra. Even though I lost, it's a good video! You can hardly hear my car over the mighty 2J in the car next to me!
My max speed was ~130mph.

Looks wild! Can't imagine what that type of power and acceleration would be like in a MR2.

Thats awesome man, might have won if you had the headlights down :p A shame you got knocked out so soon but still looks awesome fun all the same.

That supra has close 500rwkw, im surprised you lost with a car with 420rwkw - better delivery and less weight.

Does either car have rolling anti-lag, nitrous, Co2 and other pieces that help the launch.... final drive / gear ratios... Supra 1500kg, MR2 1,300kg (115% weight, 119% power)...
many things make a car go zoom... competing against displacement with a 4cyl turbo is challenging until you are in high rpm... and dam it happens so quick :)

Good effort Rob

I don't know all the details about that Supra, but yes it has about 500rwkw, and it has an auto transmission, and drag tyres which I don't have. I never expected to win that race haha.
One thing that people often forget, is that it's not just about the peak power, it's about the area under the whole power curve. The Supra would have significantly more power at low RPM due to the larger capacity of a 2JZ. The result of this (combined with the drag tyres and different gear ratios) is clearly evident in the video when the Supra gets ahead of my MR2 in the first half of the race.
If you watch closely towards the end of the race, the gap hardly increases at all because at that point it's all down to the power-to-weight ratio at peak power, which is very similar in both cars.

I got a last-minute invite to Wakefield Park yesterday with the Supra Club after someone else cancelled, and I finally got a new PB of 1:10.490. I know at least a few spots where I can definitely go faster, so 1:09 should be on the cards very soon! I'm not sure which of the laps in this session was the fastest, maybe the last one.

It's been a while since I posted an update in here. There hasn't been much new to report, I've just been enjoying the car!
I'll be attending the MR2 Nationals this weekend, followed by the Wakefield Park Challenge next week.
In preparation, new front brake discs and pads have been installed, with fresh brake fluid. Until now I've had Ferodo DS2500 pads on the front, but now I'm using Project Mu HC800 pads for the first time. I already like them on the street, and I'm looking forward to seeing how much they help with lap times! Fingers crossed for another PB.
