The 5S block machining has now been completed.
The head was serviced too, and that went smoothly with no issues found.
This means that Advance will start reassembling everything very soon!

The re-assembly of the engine is almost complete. Here are some pics.

Hux Racing billet steel main caps:


98+ 5S-FE block with pistons installed:


The Gen 2 3S-GTE head and cams are staying the same as before, but the head was just serviced.
The head is already ported, it already has shimless buckets and upgraded valve springs/retainers, and the cams are the same as before (CamTech 265in/271ex cams):




Hux Racing head stud support washers/hats (these require some machining of the head):



Not much left to do now:




The exhaust system looks better than ever after a cosmetic clean up:

Rob. I like it. I'm sure it would already have been taken care of but I have seen it forgotten when swapping from
3S to 5S block. Tap a thread in the oil feed for the 5S  balance shafts and seal in a grub screw.

You're not the first person to mention that, but it's already been done :-) I think it was done in the photos too, but it's just hard to see.

?? Mine doesn't have balance shafts.
I thought it was only the early model blocks that have them.

My 98+ 5SFE had balance shafts which needed to be removed.

I'm pretty sure the balance shaft thing is to do with whether it came from a Celica or a Camry, not what year it is
