MR2QIK
So how much longer?

At a guess, maybe 3 weeks or so.

Since you haven't ordered yet, maybe I'll chime in before you chuck another signature Rob :)

From what I understand, the 6262 makes a bit more power than the gt3582r, but is noticeably less responsive on the street & makes less midrange. Nothing in turboland comes free. The 0.82 rear would make it larger & a bit less responsive than my GT3582R on your motor (larger inducer I believe). Not sure if that's a good idea for your setup considering your 2L displacement, block & rpm limitations.

You'll undoubtedly make more power (still a great turbo), but IMO it will not make for the greatest drive. That turbo on a 2.3L 4G63 is brutal past 5000rpm, so I can only imagine a 2500-2700rpm power band for you (approx 5400-8000rpm). Josh from the States ran that turbo off a 5SGTE which spun past 9000rpm with significantly more boost than you can run. I'd consider that a nice match, but I think yours won't quite be. I'm prolly off on the spool calculation but you get the general idea.

Don't wanna burst your bubble, but I'd suggest you to reconsider. Maybe try the GT3082 first or downsize to a 0.63 A/R 6262.

I think you'd get well over 350rwkw on e85 with the 0.82 6262 if on dyno dynamics.

Haha Jay!
I'm sure I've read all of the same info that you have read yourself. I've actually been constantly thinking and researching this for the last few months and trying to resist, but this week I gave in and decided that I could do better than my current turbo.
One important thing to remember is that my current turbo is already quite laggy for the power it's providing, because it has a relatively small turbine trying to spin a big compressor. I'm totally used to the response and lag and it doesn't bother me at all, therefore I don't 'need' better response.

It's not too late for me to change my mind.

How much to change the turbine? Maybe a better option considering the quality of the Garrett product. Especially if cheaper. I'm sure you've read on the component differences between the two.
I do think you will notice the lag difference though. Prolly not massive, but you will notice it. Personally, would be too much trade for me, but you're not me :) haha!

If they've already done some tuning, can't you take it for a quick drive now?

Well folks, here we go, the FINAL decision, and I've officially ORDERED this turbo...

GTX3076R with 0.82 A/R turbine housing.

I couldn't be more happy with this choice, and I'm so excited to see how it goes!
I was never 100% comfortable with any of my previous 'final decisions' regarding a turbo upgrade, but I'm very comfortable with my choice this time. I had actually been considering this turbo for the last few months, it was always in the back of my mind.
It's quite a momentous occasion because, for the first time ever, MR2QIK agrees with a choice I've made hahaha.
(not that Jay's opinion is any more or less valuable than other's of course I always take everyone's input into consideration and weigh up all the pros and cons...which is why I go around in circles with my decisions so often).

Good decision Rob!

I also like that turbo and I've read a few articles on comparing it to a normal GT3076 through some dyno testing on an STi (http://blogperrinperformance.com/?p=263 Part 1 is linked on that page too).

I'm also very keen on seeing how it runs on the e85 with 20+ psi, and how it compares to your original GT3082 with the new gear (injectors, inlet mani, etc.), be able to compare the difference between the two.

Probably almost as excited as you haha.

I think the 0.82 A/R exhaust housing will possibly make the most difference on 98 fuel, but the GTX turbo as a whole will really shine on E85 with more boost as you mentioned.
