Hey guys,
Been feeling it come for a while, but today I was finally able to confirm that my clutch is slipping - and slipping pretty badly. In first gear, anything past 2,000 RPM = no extra forward momentum. So I guess it's time to replace it.
What I come here for is to gather your thoughts on what should I get? I've done my due diligence and searched the forums for similar posts but alas, either my google-fu failed me or there are none.
At the moment I'm driving a 1997 NA Bathurst and I'm not looking to boost it's power - so I imagine I don't need anything more than a stock clutch. Googling this, I see the Exedy ones are the most common replacement clutches - anyone know about/tried these? If it's common and 'cheap' on ebay, this gets my suspicions up in terms of quality and the like. Anything else someone would recommend?
While I was in there replacing the clutch, I was thinking I'd also replace the flywheel with a lightweight one. I'll be honest and come out straight away saying I don't know enough to confidently say whether this would be beneficial or not, but "it makes sense"? Less mass for the clutch to move = less resistance = more revolutions = engine can rev faster? Either way, assuming that yes, this is true - do you think it would be worth doing? I don't think I've seen a single thread about a flywheel on these forums so far...
Assume that I also would feel a difference, is there any particular brand that's best to look at? There's two lightweight flywheels at the moment on twos-r-us that lead to pretty basic manufacturer websites and descriptions that tell me nothing of what they would actually be like...
Looking forward to your input!
